Sniper Artillery Carrier
« on: 02 February 2011, 20:36:14 »
Take your average LRM/SRM carrier, strip off the missile launchers and bolt on a support piece. Gives you a reasonably priced, highly mobile support gun that in lance formations can keep raining hell all day long.

This already exists as the Self-Propelled Sniper, from Battletechnology Magazine. It's a semi-canon unit that's classified under the Unofficial ruleset.

Nothing solely from battletechnology is canon, semi- or otherwise.
Good news is the lab boys say the symptoms of asbestos poisoning show an immediate latency of 44.6 years. So if you're thirty or over you're laughing. Worst case scenario you miss out on a few rounds of canasta, plus you've forwarded the cause of science by three centuries. I punch those numbers into my calculator, it makes a happy face.

Are you referring to the Rim Worlds mech that appears in a canon source or the battletechnology mech that has no resemblance to it in fluff or game stats?

Either way, that's a very good example how battletechnology isn't canon, so yeah.

It's official policy of those who get paid for this stuff that nothing in battletechnology is canon unless it appears somewhere other than battletechnology.

"Unofficial" is a rules classification. Units from published sources such as Battletechnology and MechForceUK fit in there. Any Mods want to chime in? Pretty sure this is still the case.

No such beast anymore, though I did post a request to confirm this on the Ask the Lead Developers board.
