Sometimes a work just crashlands so hard into the artistic communal mindset it can't ever be shaken off.  Look at how visually influential Blade Runner was and still is, for example.
Der Hölle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen,
Tod und Verzweiflung flammet um mich her!
Fühlt nicht durch dich Jadefalke Todesschmerzen,
So bist du meine Tochter nimmermehr!

Yeah, but this feels like someone thought they had to make Macross - the whole fleet, mind ya - meet LEXX, switch the mecha designs for ones from Appleseed and GITS for either side and add in Yamato style firing shots - all while having random useless generals run around in LOGH uniforms and adding in an second level of bridge bunnies because one is not enough. Uh, and the ship's commander? Can't have the usual bearded old guy. This one's a robot looking like someone crossed Evangelion with a Gundam and sorta SDed it.

Not sure if it's been brought up here before, but given the two interests we know everybody in this thread has in common, I thought I'd share this: A free tabletop skirmish game for GunPla kits.

I've got a handful of gashapon figs scattered around my closet, I may dig them out and give this a whirl sometime.

I've herd about it.

I saw some guys showing it off at the 2018 Chicago Pop Culture Con. Seemed interesting enough. Keep in mind it's really supposed to work with 1/144 scale Gunpla.

Too bad you can't pin the Mohs scale ratings on thread top and be able pull it down and refer to them.
Yeah :(

But we can do that in TV Tropes site. Article Mohs Scale of Science Fiction Hardness names every grade on the scale with links to their respective articles and most of them name related anime. Named anime is few, but we can add more. Shall we get started ;)

Looking through the rules, it has bits for adapting larger and smaller scales, even SD models.

It was designed for 1/144 scale, but I can confirm it works just as nicely with 1/400 Gundam Collection figures as well. Also, there's a dedicated forum for Skirmish located here: http://mobilesuitskirmish.proboards.com/

(Full disclosure: I'm a moderator on the Skirmish forum.)

I thought the name looked familiar...I spent way too much time yesterday scouring that forum, though I haven't posted yet.

Now I just need to base my gashapons(which seem to be a larger scale than most, at 1/233) to get some sample games in, and remember to measure my one Kampfer that *might* be in 1/144.

Indeed. Origin of the franchise is a RPG video game for Sega Master System and whatever is its Japanese equivalent. I have played it on Mega Drive replica made by AtGames.

And 1987 isn't that old...

I've seen some of those--MS Collection, I want to say. If I remember correctly, they're mostly non-scale, though with your guess I'd say they're fairly close to the multitudinous different 1/220 collector's lines which have been released over the years. (I've got a Dom from each of two lines released by the same company which both claim to be 1/220, but their heights and proportions differ wildly. There's a lot of variation even in the same scale--where have I heard that before?)

I don't know how many gashapon figures get close to 1/144--is the Kämpfer from the line of action figures released in the US in the 1990s?

It's definitely an action figure, though I think it dates from the early 2000s. I measured it last night, and is not 1/144. 2-3cm too short for that.

Definitely the action figure, then. (I'm a little fuzzy on the transition from the 1990s to the 2000s, as I was moving from college life to full-time job at the time. Everything from a five-year period in there is jumbled together. . . .)

As of the latest episode, Azur Lane's pacing issues and unwillingness to explain anything have spiraled off to a point where I'm pretty sure Stockholm Syndrome is the only thing keeping me watching.

Despite that, the post-credits scene was intriguing.

Gundam Build Divers Re-Rise is an ok watch so far.  The main characters are extremely bland with predictable personalities, and the story is fantasy based, so it kind of feels like the old PS RPG Gundam: True Odyssey.  Story itself is alright, with the main characters interacting with a story framework within a MMO itself.

There's a number of references to older series that do pop up, but nothing like Ranbal Ral from Build Fighters.

Still an improvement over Build Divers though.

Hey, the animation quality has returned & we're hinting at something more than just another clash! I really liked episode 7. I'm afraid plot was never a major aspect of the game, so my laughably low expectations for story are easily being surpassed!  ;D

I've got something done for Mohs / Speculative Science. Do I have wiki syntax right? Anything to correct? Any more tropes to be linked? Ready to copy-paste it in the wiki?

* Though Anime/MoonlightMile depicts sound and explosions in space for the Rule of Cool, most of the rest is plausible and solid science.

* Manga/Planetes details life and work in space in the most realistic and scientific manner. Space is quiet and without explosions, but anime makes great use of music in place of sound effects.

The Mohs do remind me of the: types of impossibilities by Michio Kaku.
Class I Impossibilities are "technologies that are impossible today, but that do not violate the known laws of physics."
Class II Impossibilities are “technologies that sit at the very edge of our understanding of the physical world, possibly taking thousands or millions of years to become available"

Leave it to humans to try and classify and quantify the impossible.

Michio Kaku never did see a speculative idea he didn't want to chime in on.

MOD NOTICE
I'm not clear where people got the idea that debating the exact point where a specific work's depiction of something sketchy vs. other media interpretations in the same franchise is acceptable around here, or whether something is sketchy or not.  None of that needs to go on here.

Finished season three of My Hero Academia.  Think I'm done with it, the series just seems to get sillier and sillier, and not in a good way.  Characters' power functions seem to be more and more pulled out of the author's backside.
