Getting rid of armor with bad quality
« on: 27 February 2015, 10:30:32 »
I really have not that much luck with armor when it comes to maintainance checks. I have some 'Mechs with with an overall Quality of E but with some bad spots of armor quality B or even A. I really do not have an idea how to get rid of it. Usually when I have a location dropped to Quality B, I scrap the component and replace it even if that means that attached components to this part suffer a drop in Quality like weapons.
With armor I dont have any lick: I all the armor in one location, switched to repair, fixed the armor on the location, but the armor quality still stays low. All other parts I salvage and the replace get back to quality D, but not armor.
Clearly there is something obvious I am missing here. Any input will be appreciated.

Did you salvage the armor or scrap it before replacing? It should clear the rating either way but I'm curious if it is working one way and not the other or not working regardless of which way you attempt it.

It should just be a bug, so I would suggest trying scrapping and replacing and salvaging and replacing and posting a bug report if one or neither method works. And a campaign file that it can be easily reproduced in always helps.

Scrapping it won't clear the rating.

The only way I have discovered one can change the rating on an armor location is to have that location get destroyed.

Ok, I scrapped it and replaced it - quality staid low.
I also salvaged it, then replaced it - quality staid low.
One thing I did not test, was scrapping/salvaging the location and then look how that effects armor quality.
Could get complicated if you have low armor quality on the center torso. Is it possible to replace the center torso now?

Maybe edit the save.  Might have to go that way.

Now imagine what happens with DropShips.

Well, I would imagine they start to look a lot like the Firefly.  Held together with baling wire, chewing gum, and a pretty little mechanic girl who keeps it all shiny.

But yes, the entire crew of the Serenity was pretty awesome. :D

Not to mention, that the song by the same name is awesome as hell too ;)

Aye, that's why I own the entire series + movie on DVD. I really wish it had lasted. Of course, I feel the same way about Stargate Universe... which got cancelled just when it was getting to the best point!

For anyone who hasn't watched Castle, there are a lot of Firefly references in it as well as some of the cast in various episodes.
