Simple, straightforward, and to the point -- just a fast-moving assault gun. No secondary self-defense weapons, and ammo is a bit limited (a draft version had sixteen shots, but I decided I'd rather have this come home empty in one piece for reloads than see it crash and burn on the battlefield with shots still in the bin, so I ultimately put that extra ton into armor instead), so it wants to travel with similarly mobile escorts if at all possible...but it's decently fast, carries the big gun, and purely C-bill wise I can get four of this for one of yours. }:) (In terms of BV it actually costs a little bit more, but that's understandable enough; what I miss out on in terms of micro pulse laser and ECM, I get back in better armor -- layered on more thickly for the absence of a turret, plus I actually used all the points 5.5 tons of HFF give me -- and four extra shots for the BFG.)
This is actually an upgrade of a throwaway concept of mine from years back that I dug up. That one went only 9/14 on a standard fusion engine, though, and its armor was thinner (and only standard ferro-fibrous) to boot. Thus, arguably not really much of a winning design, and I figured I'd do myself one better and actually splurge on an XL powerplant this once. Sure it's expensive, but the heavy Gauss is nothing if not a signature Lyran weapon...and Steiner's got money. :D
