List of Gauss Mechs?

A mate and I are entering a TW tournament on Star Wars day here in Oz and we have decided to keep the Star Wars theme going by calling our team "May The Gauss Be With You". We want to include at least one design that carries a Gauss Rifle in each of forces.

Does anyone have a comprehensive list of all the designs that have at least one? Bonus kudos if you split them up into types (Light, Standard, Heavy, etc)

Around 300 variants.  I did a brute-force count of 'mechs with at least one standard Gauss rifle, both Clan and Inner Sphere, via MegaMek's search function.

I was going to say that using the Advanced Search function in MegaMek will be your easiest route. Then you can also filter at the same time if you want to include LGRs, HGRs, iHGRs, HAGs, APGRs...

As for the OP, this is easily found by using Megamek's search, install that program, learn it, and reap a bounty of BT goodness, including playing against AI or human opponents, and designing and printing your own record sheets.

Ahhh OK thanks for th heads up. Might have to give that a try. I know you can see equipment in SSW, but I cant remember if its filterable by type.

It was only that I ran out of ways to kludge stuff in with the custom weapons systems I had to move to MegaMekLab, and only then after having to learn how to do some coding because you can't have custom weapons in MML and I had houserules. It's shame there's not an easy option there. (I remain surprised that they didn't got that route for potentially easier modding, hoenstly, but perhaps I'm too used to looking at stuff like Rimworld, which is exceptionally moddable.)

Well for a IS 90 tonner, i can get 4 Light gauses, at a 3/5 move with endo.  OR 4 regular on a 100 ton clan mech also at 3/5.

Yes but thats dependant on what you are going for. The heavy Gaus Rifleman brings a lot of gaus guns to the table. The Prowler mech or the Hollander Mech or a heavier Rifleman 3.

The Rifleman III (not 3, Arabic numerals are reserved for variants of Clan second line mechs) had four Gauss Rifles, not five.  The Annihilator C "Gausszilla" is the only canon mech that had five.  And it was a pilot's unique customization.

MegaMekLAB does not, but MegaMEK does, at least, the latest version does.  Set the time frame to 3151, and it will show pretty much everything as Standard.  It won't combine Clan and Inner Sphere, but that's better than nothing.

In the case of those three, it's Clan Gauss.

The current development version of MegaMekLab does this.  I think it either takes the current Era settings set in MegaMek or doesn't account for them at all and shows everything.

Not last time I used it.  I've had it set to 3151 in MegMek, but later opened up MegaMekLab and it kept it separated out between the different tech levels.  Keep in mind that MML doesn't need to care what is Standard for a certain Era in a look up.

That's probably what I'm seeing then with all the levels selected.

Either way, I want to be able to export search results to CSV.  Maybe I'll submit a PR for it if I ever get that good at programming

Why would you want 5 for a Rifleman? 2 in each arm makes it iconic. Where would a fifth one go?

A fifth one in the head - make it a Magshot so it fits.
