(Answered) WiGE Super Heavy Vehicles

p 378 of T.O. (before the split)
So, Super Heavy WiGE craft need at least 5 cruise MPs, great.

Their Suspension Factor is (140 + (35 for every 30 tons* over 80) ... at the maximum tonnage of 160 (and probably lower) it is impossible to build.

160 tons
140 +105 (81-110 is +35; 111-140 is +35; 141-160 is +35) = 245

160 x5 =800; 800-245 =555 ... an impossible engine rating. So designing a 160 ton WiGE is impossible, but rules are given for design basics for that unit.

Actually down to 120 tons (and probably lower) of a Super Heavy WiGE is nigh impossible (almost always improbable) at a 5 MP cruise rate.  XXL engines mitigate the issue somewhat at a few tonnages.

Is there errata I have overlooked? or possibly WiGE super heavies get 'axed'?

Also wanted to add that someone PM'd me saying that it needs only 5 MP total (using flank speed) ala Total Warfare.

but, I found this in my TM errata 4.0

WiGEs: These vehicles must be constructed with a minimum of 5 Cruising MP.

If the TW is valid or overtakes TM, then great ... one can simply go to 3/5 movement rate and fluff it needs to go full power all the time (any -1 motive hit and out of luck)

The TO rules on that page are broad-category rules, so some things will work better than others using them.  The inability to take WiGEs up to the maximum possible tonnage is one such case.

WiGEs need a minimum of 5 Cruising MP.  If that or any other factor prevents them from being 200 tons (or whatever weight), so be it.

Noted, and thank you.  I like that answer ... almost as good as HBS replying to N.C./Star Wars blasters " ... hell no, blasters suck!"

I'll do some work to find out where the cutoff in reality ends up.

[edit: at 135+ tons, other than a single XXL case at 141 tons, it is impossible to create a SH WiGE.  Many designs from 111-34 tons are simply infeasible or become very expensive (if you use costs) ... I love/hate running numbers and data entry!]
