Ground Combat / Re: Protomech artillery?

It would be nice to see some protomech art, or something that can support without the cost of a larger tank or battlemech

The shipping if the kickstarter has been such a cluster. It's hard to keep motivation of Battletech if there is no product to buy.

General BattleTech Discussion / Re: Crazy idea: Mech Racing

I'm liking the idea the idea of turrets raining down death in marked kill zones, where you can go around or through depending on how much risk you want to take.  I also like the idea of there being non threatening  targets (stationary or on rails to move) that you can shoot for points.  I kinda like the points targets should count as (mechanized?) infantry maybe or something.  Like you shouldn't get 10 points for nailing one bonus target with a PPC but LBX clusters, missile spam, and anti infantry weapons like machine guns should be able to get multiple points.

I also like the idea that various bonus targets can be protected by ecm fields or anti missile systems to encourage other weapons for those targets.  Or some targets in protected bunkers that can only be scored on with A-Pods or the like.  Debating that maybe some of the targets are protected by Ferro-Lam armor so lbx clusters or silver bullets can't score those targets.

One other thing is that since you are racing instead being a full war machine, you don't necessarily need an expensive fusion engine (are we still going with fusion engines are expensive these days) to build a racer.  I can see the rookie leagues with ICE or Fuel Cells in industrial mechs trying to zip around.  And you know that one weirdo that built his racer with a fission engine...

Update 101 is garbage.  They should have said "We are still waiting on back-orders to arrive.  We will advise when we have items in stock.  We apologize to those of you who are still waiting." This would have been a more accurate and honest description of the current state of affairs.  Instead, we get more vagaries and no substance.   At this point, I would be surprised to get my Mercenaries KS before Christmas.

Why does it bother me?  When I can now buy portions of this KS on the secondary market or see it painted across from me on the game table...it has taken too long.  Especially for what I paid in shipping.  Shipping for this thing has been a boondoggle.

Tactical Operations: Advanced Rules, pg 16, allows a Mech to Sprint.  While doing is it may not make any deliberate, Damaging Attacks, Spot for Indirect Fire, or anyo the raction that would normally require it sacrifice and Attack.

Total Warfare, pg 224-225 covers Infantry Dismounting from a transport unit.  It says that the infantry unit may dismount the carrier during the Movement Phase at the end of the carrier's move.  It also says a charging carrier cannot dismount Infantry.

It seems like no rule covers an occasion where a Mechanized Battle Armor unit on an Omnimech, say Elementals on a Clan Fire Moth, doing a Sprint can Dismount or not.  The interactions with Dismounting and Charging do raise some questions regarding this interaction, though, as the restrictions on the carrier are very similar for Sprinting and Charging.

The question is, Can Mechanized Battle Armor Dismount from a Sprinting Mech?

For the sake of keeping the game moving and not finding anything specific, we ruled they could, as it is more an Infantry Action than the carrier's Action.  Still, it would be nice to have an official answer.

I would say there is room somewhere in between but unfortunately, this forum often gets into debates regarding who head canon is the correct head canon. I just decided to shrug and say 'whatever makes the most sense to you' a long time ago, how you think a gun looks or works in universe doesn't effect the rules after all. The weapon does the same damage regardless.

Why? because Giant Stompy Robots.  If you wanted realism you'd be playing avalon hill's classical history games instead.

That just sounds boring.  :)
Like playing a mundane class in an RPG instead someone that uses MAGIC.
"Historical War Games, Being a Fighter".......... I did that, in the army :)
If I want to do it again, I'll go play paintball or take up martial arts :)
Games are more fun w/ Robots & Lasers & Fireballs oh my.
