Hello! I have painted this Striga in 51st colors. The fade effect is airbrushed. I hope you like it!

Gorgeous...but what's holding it up? 8)

that's awesome! i love the striga.

That's beautiful, nice job on the light-sourcing from the weapons. I've got to pick up a couple of these for my 52nd.
-
Very nice. Reminds me that I have to assemble and paint mine
-
Really like the patches of green! O0

The Striga's indeed an impressive mini, and you have quite well rendered it! Excellent job.
I also love the way the pilot seems to be barnstorming the hangar, nice and elegant touch of humor here.

Holy cow, this is the best aero I've every seen, nice work
-
Awesome!
Though I'm definitely going to have to seriously trim down the tailfins when I get some...

Thank you for all the nice comments! I airbrushed first, then I use badab black wash for the panel lines and painted some highlights. The source light effect was the longest part. I use several glazes of bright red.

Thank you! Unfortunately I just photoshopped the base :-[ :-[

Is Photoshoping allowed ;)
makes it look like you have a hidden support in the photograph at first glance.

Great! [rockon]
You've just vastly improved my opinion about that mini.

Very nice mini!

Nice work.

I like how you have it look like it is flying. great Paint Job also. [drool]

That's awesome! My only qualm is that the sky blue of the 51st looks more the purple of the 49th in most of those pictures. The glow of the energy weapons more than overrides this, though. Beauteous.

Nice work G&D!
Slick photos too!

Awesome colors on an awesome mini

Thank you for all the nice comments!

Excellent sculpt and quick and easy job! 8)

I am not a fan of the miniature, but I really like what you have done with it. Nice work :) The subtle glow effect on the weapons is a nice touch and one of those small details which really bring a miniature to life.
My only suggestion would be to go for a lighter grey near the nose. That is probably just my interpretation of the Shadow Division theme, but I think the grey is too dark, especially with the nose itself (last panel, or first depending on your viewpoint) being even darker than those around the cockpit.

Thank you for your comments!

Awesome!

is that the one I'm/we're missing?

I run to cover, and hiding in hole now.
Now serious, its a amazing work of art.
Masterpiece.

Good job.
What paints are you using with your airbrush? I haven't used mine in quite a while, when I did it was for camo, the one time I tried a fade effect like you did, I found it easier just to paint it on with a brush.

Thank you! I used Vallejo Air Color. Barley grey for the light grey and black for the black. Gunze or Tamiya work better and are easier to clean in the airbrush, but they may add a glossy effect. It can be solved with Vallejo aircolor matt varnish (the only matt that worked for me) but it makes harder to add details. Hope this helps!

Gorgeous bird. Gonna have to send the commandos in on the ground to secure me a few of them

G&D,
Great work!

Thanks for the tip.
When I did airbrush, I used Model Master Acryllics - they were perfect, they've just dried out over time and I can't get them antmore. When I first got my airbrush, Tamiya paints were my first choice, but I found they either flowed too quickly or not quickly enough. I should give P3 or GW paints a go - I have easy access to those brands.
-
You are welcome!
Don't forget to use distilled water and thinner to thin the Vallejo Game Color, Vallejo Model Color, P3 and Reaper. If you don't thin the paint it will block the airbrush in no time. Tamiya and Gunze work better with airbrush (you should use alcohol to thin them) and only alcohol is needed to clean the airbrush. Hope this helps!
Now some inspirational work! An A-90 modded...

I like to use testors enamels, with their brand of airbrush thinner myself. Clean up is something of a pain, but the colours go down easy.
