Australian Battletech Championships (on hold)
« on: 19 April 2018, 05:35:04 »
Greetings fellow Aussie mechwarriors!

Im looking at hosting the inaugral ABC tournament here in Brisbane, Queensland next year at Easter.

It will be held at a store which good friends of mine own
https://www.facebook.com/themagicvault/

There will be several competitions over the 3 days and you can play in one or all of them. Saturday will be an Innersphere Only Total Warfare engagement, Sunday will be a Clan vs Clan TW engagement and Monday will run both a Grand Melee/Bloodname or alternatively a Alpha Strike tournament for the entire day.

Im still in the preliminary stages of planning and playtesting the formats but I have a pretty great understanding of what a fair and competitive comp will be as Ive played in many tournaments both here and interstate.

Im hoping to get people from all the states here for this competition as I want it to be truly national. Plus I want people to represent their state as well as play for themselves to see who is the best in the country. With that in mind, I urge all you people who arent in QLD to put away $10 a week starting now towards airfares and accomodation so that it will be less of a financial hit come next year. I will personally put up at least one person from WA (I know there is a strong BT following over there) so that person will get free accomodation and food the entire time they are here. I could possibly put one more person up but it would have to be arranged somehow.

So keep watching this space for more updates on rules, prizes and so on!

Peace out,
Son of Kerenski

Just asked my wife and she said 'maybe.' Basically depends.
PM me if you live in Perth Western Australia and are after a game. Please!

Oh really? I thought there was a flourishing community in WA. Ive read past posts here and elsewhere that they get around 6 to 8 people at tournaments. But that was a year or 2 ago admittedly...

More like five or six years ago. Probably get a game about once every three months with my mates.  That's when I provide all the models, sheets, venue and everything else. It's pretty dead here unfortunately.

Oh bugger thats a shame.

Well if you decide to come over this way for the tournament you have first dibs on my spare room. That should make the trip more affordable for you...

Hey everyone. Im thinking of delaying this idea for a year and have it kick off in 2020 instead. Its to do with playtesting new ideas for it.

Has anyone made any plans to come to Brisbane next year yet? Im hoping you havent but if you have then.lets talk about what we can do...

Offical PDF coming soon but this is the format that will be adopted for the Easter Weekend:

SATURDAY
Total Warfare Rules + ECCM + EDGE +NEW INIT SYSTEM + AP -1 from woods
4 IS mechs, (no double ups - one Warhammer per force for example)
7000BV max
Intro or Standard tech only
1 unique mech permitted amoung the 4 if INTRO OR STND

4 rounds. 1 Semi final round and 1 Grand final round.

SUNDAY
Build a Better Timberwolf
You basically strip all the weapons out and put in whatever you want instead with a limitation on LPL's only

GRAND MELEE in the Morning
BLOODNAME (Kerensky) in the Afternoon

MONDAY
Alpha Strike
450-500 points
12 units
Still deciding whether to go straight up battle or make it objective based.

This is the format I'm hoping to use but due to family issues I'm going to have to postpone the event for this year.

G'day SoK,

Unfortunately between my wife working in retail (which always means she will have at least two shifts on Easter weekend) and the young kids, I am stuck here in Canberra at the moment. Hopefully in the future when the kids are older  I will be able to make it up to BrisVegas.
Incoming fire has the right of way.

The only thing more accurate than incoming enemy fire is incoming friendly fire.

Always remember that your weapon was built by the lowest bidder.

All good Feenix. I'm having to put this on hold due to family related issues.

It also doesn't help that the game has kind of disappated here in Brisbane as well. Numbers would probably make it an issue.
