These 2D images remind me of how we used to play the board game.  When we played in middle school there wasn't a lot of interest in miniatures and painting them.  We just wanted to play a strategy game, but we needed playing pieces.  Often only just once.

What we did was draw front view and back views onto strips of cut up cereal or soda can boxes and make our own temporary miniatures.

That is what this looks like.  You should consider drawing the rear view using the outlines you just did for the front view to make card stock minis from if needed.
