Overview
Quikscell is a large interstellar corporation that sells a wide variety of low-cost combat vehicles to customers across the Inner Sphere and beyond. It would be somewhat charitable to say that Quikscell products suffer from inconsistent quality control. Even so, their vehicles tend to be sturdy and reliable once any defects have been corrected- which is why Quikscell customers are wise to invest in enhanced service plans.
The "Widget" bridelayer is a recent addition to Quikscell's product catalog.
Capabilities
Although Quikscell marketing does not openly state as much, the Widget is essentially a variant of the Scorpion light tank. The Scorpion's turret has been entirely removed in favor of a heavy bridgelayer. This extendable 30-meter bridge is capable of accommodating units of up to 90 tons. The presence of a single Widget allows all but the heaviest units to cross obstacles, ditches, damaged bridges, and small waterways at combat speed.
The Widget carries limited armament in the form of two SRM-2s. These launchers can fend off the occasional skirmisher. More importantly, they can be used to lay smokescreens so that the Widget can carry out its work unmolested. Overall armor protection compared to the Scorpion is increased to 5 tons, which is enough to absorb a few hits and remain operational.
Deployment
The Widget has become a ubiquitous site in engineering detachments across the Inner Sphere.
