Freelance software development in this universe
« on: 29 January 2012, 23:26:28 »
Hi,

I would like to know what Catalyst game labs' approach to software development of games set in the Battletech universe is.
Does the community welcome/tolerate the efforts of people who work on no-for-profit software projects on their on time?
If someone were to develop a computerised version of the Inner Sphere in Flames and put it on github, would this be viewed as copyright infringement?

Thanks

Hello,

Catalyst game Labs does not have the electronic rights to the BattleTech IP; only the publishing rights. (This is also why we really don't have any real say in what happens in the computer/video game incarnations of the game.) Last time I checked, Microsoft owned electronic rights to BattleTech...

Hopefully, that helps.

Thank you,
