he could have insisted on a Texas or McKenna to escort each one, he was making it easy for Vic, he could also build "training" ships for the various academies. ;-)

         Mackolla

Duke Scott Mitchell had received the HPG message from Archon Prince Victor Steiner Davion. He slowly opened the sealed envelope that contained the message, extracted it and read.

To: Duke Scott Mitchell, Mitchell Aerospace and Shipyard
From: Archon Prince Victor Steiner Davion

Your putting me in a difficult position Scott, but I trust your judgement. The 5 York Destroyers are approved, if Khan West is willing to man them. At least that will lessen any possible blow back. If Khan West will not man them, you can still build and man them and I will find a way to deal with any issues.

In recognition of Mitchell Aerospace and Shipyards continued exemplary service to the Federated Commonwealth, you are authorized to provide 2 additional Destroyers for each factory ship as escorts. Destroyers Scott, not a damned Battleship that you or that lunatic decide to call a Destroyer. No larger than the Halsey II.

 Victor

Scott breathed a sigh of relief when he finished reading the message. At least now I don't have to slink around behind his back. No larger than the Halsey II, well the Tarawa is the same tonnage as the Halsey II, but he would probably freak out. Scott thought silently Of course, that would solve carrying additional cargo Dropships and provide escorts. He would probably still freak out over it. Wonder if I should ask about upgrading my Patrol II Corvettes to Destroyers, that would probably push him over the edge.

Now I just have to decide what Destroyer to build...….Arrow, Carson II, Halsey II or design a new one.

  New Avalon

Archon Prince Victor Steiner Davion had taken a shuttle up to greet Khan West for a quick meeting. He had ordered the Jumpship carrying Khan West to come in at a Pirate Point only a day from New Avalon. As he exited the shuttle, he saw Khan West waiting for him. After exchanging a quick greeting, Khan West led Victor to his quarters aboard the Dropship he was using.

"Long journey Khan West." Victor said

"Yes, I have been away for too long already. I need to figure out how to handle the issue with Khan Kell." Khan West said

Victor frowned a little "I heard he was causing your troops some issues, guess he figures he does not need to play nice anymore."

"No trouble that Clan Nova Cat cannot handle. He has been very passive since we took a planet from him. I already did not really want the 3 worlds we held and now I have 4 in an area far away from our home." Khan West said

"I would prefer not to have a war between your 2 Clan's Khan West." Victor said

"Neither would I Victor, I am trying to figure a way out of this situation. But, I also will not allow Clan Wolf in Exile to keep trying the patience of Clan Nova Cat." Khan West said

"Phelan always was a pain in the ass. Just give the worlds to him if you do not want them." Victor said

"Not the Clan way Victor. It is one thing when dealing with one of the Inner Sphere powers, but Khan Kell wants to act as a Clan. Galaxy Commander Drummond suspects Khan Kell prefers to have Clan Nova Cat close for several reasons, 1st as a source of trained warriors and equipment, 2nd as a safeguard, with my forces that close, any potential adversary must take us into account in any calculation they make. That is why he turned down my offer." Khan West explained

"He has to know that sooner or later Clan Nova Cat is going to tire of his games and strike back in force." Victor said

"I am sure he does. I am not sure of his exact thoughts though. But surely this is not what you came up here to discuss." Khan West replied

"Not exactly. Has Scott approached you about providing escort for this Factory ship scheme of his?" Victor asked

"Yes, before the Grand Council Meeting. I never got around to speaking with you about it. I never said yes or no, but it is a tempting offer. Five York Destroyers and part of the profit in exchange for escorting his ships." Khan West said

"Well, I just authroized him to build the 5 Yorks. Is this going to strain your ability to man the ships?" Victor asked, mainly to get a feel for what to expect Scott to pull on him.

"Crewing the Warships, no. I have quite a few former Viper and Jaguar crews available. Aerospace crews, now that is a different matter, but I also have a full Cluster of Aerospace unassigned. I have been using them to secure Tortuga Prime. They could easily staff the 5 Yorks. I do not have enough fighters to fully outfit them yet, but we are getting close to having our Aerospace manufacturing up and running." Khan West answered

"Okay, well if you decide to man the warships, then you have your 5 warships. If not, then Scott has said he will man them. For political reasons, I would prefer you to man those Yorks. But I will not ask you to put your defenses at risk." Victor said

"I will make my decision before I get home Victor. I will send a message to you the moment I make my decision." Khan West said

"That is all I ask. Also, let me know how the Clan Diamond Shark move is working out. I got word another convoy is closing on my border for passage." Victor said

"I will do so Victor." Khan West assured him

           Mackolla

When Duke Scott Mitchell had boarded Shipyard One to talk to Boss about designing a new Destroyer for escort duties, Boss had beat him to the punch by handing him a design he had already worked up. Called the Tortuga Class Destroyer, it went all out and incorporated Clan Spec weapons. Using 952 tons of lamellor ferro-carbide armor it was extremely well armored. Mounted a mobile HPG and a Large Naval Comm Suite. Carrying 36 Aerospace Fighters and 2 Elemental or Battle Armor Trinaries for 150 BA Marines. Just over 74,000 tons of cargo allowed it to stay deployed very well. Every person stationed aboard had their very own quarters which also helped with long deployments.

Scott looked over the specs and whistled "Damn Boss, she is expensive 17 Billion for a damn Destroyer?"

"Quit bitching, it's only 2 Billion more than the Halsey II and better armored with more toys. Firepower may not be as heavy, but it is no slouch and will get the job done." Boss replied "Heck, slap 2 standard Titan on one and you have 72 Aerospace Fighters, go nuts and slap 2 of my redesigned Clan Titan's on one and you pack almost as many Aerospace Fighters as a Nimitz Carrier."

"Well, she is quick enough with a max of 3g's, the 9,000 tons of fuel will really help her. LF Batteries and enough double heat sinks to fire every weapon continuously. Okay, how long to build them?" Scott asked

"In a shipyard, I can build one in 6 months, if I use a yardship it will take about 8 months. I have no empty yards for a long time but we have 4 Rescue Yardships being completed in 3 weeks time. How many are we building?" Boss asked

"I want 4 of the Tortuga Destroyers built for the MDF, and we also need to build 5 York Destroyers, full Clan builds. I want them done when the Factory ships are completed." Scott said

"Okay, then 2 Rescue Yardships start construction on the Tortuga Destroyers, pretty sure I can have all 4 done in time. The other 2 Rescue Yardships will each build (2) 1M Pressurized Yard, take 4 months to complete all 4 yards. Those York require that Harjel crap, you better find some. The York will take 5 months each to build, maybe 6 because of that Harjel crap. I have no clue how that crap works, you better get me some Nova Cat assistance on this." Boss said

"I will ring up Khan West and see what he can do about the Harjel and some help for you. Make it happen Boss." Scott said as he headed for the shuttle to head for the surface.

As Scott departed the station, Boss could not help but mutter to himself "Figures, we go thru almost 2 years of slow production and the moment I am in full production mode, I have to pull extra ships out of my ass."

looks like this Tortuga Class Destroyer would be a good flotilla leader for Corvettes, Frigates, or Destroyers.

 1 December 3065
   Chaine Cluster

Clan Jade Falcons Gamma Galaxy, under the command of Galaxy Commander Amelia Icaza, slammed into the Chainelane Isles like a sledgehammer, quickly seizing the 7 systems inside the Chaine Cluster. Above Bekke was the greatest prize, several unpressurized yards and a production facility. Galaxy Commander Amelia Icaza dispatched a jumpship to make contact with a partial HPG relay to send word back to Ironhold and Khan Marthe Pryde. The Clusters 7 systems held just over 2 million people and they were all induced into Clan Jade Falcons Laborer Caste.

Awaiting orders, Galaxy Commander Amelia Icaza ordered her Gamma Galaxy to take up defensive positions.

  Mackolla

Duke Scott Mitchell was in his office looking over reports from every planet in his Outer March. Luckily, he had a very capable staff to help gather the needed information and compile it into something he could make sense of. Overall, the Outer March was coming along quite well. There were still some issues, but between the Federated Commonwealth civil engineers, the 2 construction companies he had purchased, those problems were being sorted out. He studied the current situation:

Mackolla- 16 Million people, Heavily Industrialized
Bamburgh- 127 Million people, Heavily Industrialized
Okefenokee- 392 Million people, Petroleum production
Anjin Muerto- 273 million people, Moderate Industry, Farming
Rentz- 134 million people, Moderate Industry, Farming
Gamelstolen- 4.7 Million people, Farming, Mining
Arundel- 15 Million people, Farming, Timber, Germanium Mining
Sherwood- 204 Million people, Light Industry, Timber, Farming
Ebro- 209 Million people, Light Industry, Farming
Memphis- 171 Million people, Moderate Industry, Mining
Morven- 168 Million people, Light Industry, Farming
Valois- 295,000 people, Germanium Mining, Farming
Broken Wheel- 147 Million people, Moderate Industry
Lackland- 184 Million people, Moderate Industry, Farming, Mining
Marielund- 167 Million people, Light Industry, Farming, Mining
Skepptana- 152 Million people, Light Industry, Farming, Mining
 Mararn- 153 Million people, Mining
Merowinger- 18 Million people, Farming, Timber
 Frankson- 14 Million people, Farming
Fugeres- 16 Million people, Farming, Timber, Mining
Ulvskollen- 17 Million people, Farming, Mining
Kenilworth- 19 Million people, Farming, Timber, Mining
Bartrock- 14 Million people, Timber, Mining
Cephei- 8 Million people, Farming, Mining
 Carcri- 271,000 people, Germanium Mining
Pegasi- 4 Million people, Farming, Mining

 Total Population- 2.626 Billion People
3065 Est Outer March GDP- 4.5 Trillion C-Bills
3065 Est Tax Revenue at 2% Rate- 90 Billion C-Bills

Scott focused on the estimated tax revenue, this was HIS income as March Lord, 90 Billion C-Bills. This did not even account for the money he made off everything else. His accountants had told him that most March Lords collected between 3-6% in taxes for themselves. Scott did not see the need in taxing higher, let the people keep their money. He flipped thru the more detailed reports and on the last page, he was staring at what his accountants estimated 3066 would look like and estimated growth of the Outer March. He grunted as he read the report.

3066 is expected to be a very good year financially for the Outer March overall. Valois is expected to begin large scale exports of Germanium estimated to reach, at current mining rates 5 million tons per year, at a going rate of 380,000 C-Bills per ton, for 1.9 Trillion C-Bills in revenue. Mackolla produces, at full operation, 20 million tons of Germanium per year but does not currently export it. Carcri is estimated to begin mining Germanium for export in 3066 at a rate of 800,000 tons per year for 304 Billion C-Bills. Mackolla currently has 45 million tons of Germanium stockpiled and unrefined. Current value of stockpiled Germanium is 17 Trillion C-Bills on Mackolla.

Valois' Germanium is very easily strip mined and is on par with Colorado's Germanium fields which has for hundreds of years been the Federated Suns primary Germanium supplier. Colorado exports of Germanium for 3060 was 55 million tons. Valois is expected to reach 10 million tons per year in 3 years at current growth rate, 25 million tons in 10 years, 50 million tons in 20 years at current growth. Estimates place Valois, using 50 million tons a year with a potential life of 375 years at that rate before exhausted.

Carcri Germanium fields are large, but not as easily mined. The tainted atmosphere precludes easy mining with supplemental oxygen needed outside the 2 small habitable domes on the surface.

Scott did not even try to calculate how much of that was going to hit his personal bank account. How much money does one person need?

***I calculated Germanium cost at 190 C-Bills per pound. Using 2014 Earth cost of 950 per pound, divided by 5, what I estimate a C-Bill is worth. 5 USD per C-Bill.***

how much production before it starts to lower the price they could get per ton?  what about fishing?  or are you just rolling that into framing.  if you open up fishing that could also add sub production?

Just rolling that into farming...….I have not figured out how to calculate a price reduction, with the increased ship production across the entire Inner Sphere, I would assume the price could even rise. 50 Million tons is only enough for roughly 100 jump cores if you use 100% in it, but it is a Germanium/Titanium alloy, so call it 120 jump cores.

MAS alone chews thru millions of tons of Germanium production every year.

Comes out of his money, not accounted for out of that number, but also MAS funds a large portion of it also

And Mackolla the planet also funds a huge part of it

 29 December 3065
         Taussen

The MIS (Mitchell Interstellar Shipping) Infinite Journey, Star Lord Jumpship, materialized at the systems Nadir Jump Point. Her captain, Lorenzo Martinez, had studied his Star Maps closely and had been curious when his navigator could not find this star on his maps anywhere. He had been with Mitchell Interstellar for over 15 years and had served 8 years at Mackolla before requesting to return to civilian shipping, so for him, using so called empty systems was old news. Using this system would shave 3 jumps off his trip. He knew company policy frowned on using so called empty systems as way points, but Captain Martinez had been prudent and had sent via HPG his intended jump route including the navigation coordinates for this mystery star before making the jump from McHenry.

As the ships sensor's came back online, it was quickly apparent that they were not alone in this system. Sensor's quickly registered incoming Aerospace fighters and a dropship inbound on an intercept course. Cursing, Captain Martinez wished he had one of the new LF Monolith's so that they could get the hell away, but he was not slated to take over one for another year. Of all the systems to choose from, I have to choose one with pirates in it, was all he could think before ordering "Comm's, radio the incoming that we surrender our vessel. No sense in us getting killed with no way to escape. At least we know Duke Mitchell will pay the ransom or come get us by force if need be."

When the leading Aerospace fighter opened fire, Captain Martinez knew they were now in serious trouble. "Emergency detach on all Dropships, maybe they can elude the pirates longer. Damn I wish I had a couple of Pentagon Dropships." On his order, the 6 Steamer Dropships detached and began fleeing in all directions, every one of them firing their meager large laser's to try and discourage the pirate fighters as best they could.

 10 January 3066
     Pattonsburg

When MIS Infinite Journey failed to appear at the next jump destination, Chebanse, and was now 5 days overdue, COO Daniel Cushing was notified. Taking the message, Cushing called up Captain Martinez's employment record, shit, of course it had to be one of the Captain's that went and played with the Mackolla "detachment". Though those Captain's were some of the best he had, they also had no fear of moving thru empty systems or even open space. It had been years since a vessel from Mitchell Interstellar had been lost for any reason. He opened his safe and pulled out the binder that contained the company's emergency action plans put in place by Duke Mitchell a few years back. He reached for the phone to dial the number listed.

"Quantum." Was all he heard as the line was answered.

"This is Mitchell Interstellar, I have a missing ship, last known destination, empty star, location coordinates 206.934 : -81.726." Cushing read off just as it said in the binder.

"Message understood and will relay." The voice said as the line disconnected

Cushing just stared at the phone, who the hell had he called? No damned clue, but he had a feeling some shit was about to go down quickly.

 15 January 3066
       Mackolla

Duke Scott Mitchell received the emergency message via Fax. He read the message and quickly called up the coordinates on his Star League star map. There it was, Versailles. That was the name displayed on the recovered Star League era map anyway. Five jumps from Demeter. He quickly issued orders for MDF Pigeon, Patrol II Corvette to head for the last known location from Demeter. He also sent a priority HPG message to New Avalon informing the AFFC of a possible pirate force at those locations and that he was sending a MDF warship to investigate the missing ship from Mitchell Interstellar.

His next action was one of a little more forceful in nature. Be damned if he would lose a damned ship to pirates, not without a fight. He called for Galaxy Commander Helmer and Galaxy Commander Leroux to report to his office. He then had a message sent to MDF Admiral Stacey Hamilton, commander of Scott's personal warship squadron to prepare her squadron for possible deployment. Admiral Hamilton was a veteran of Tortuga Prime and he knew he could count on her to deal with any pirates accordingly.

When Galaxy Commanders Helmer and Leroux arrived 2 hours later, Scott filled them both in on what had occurred and asked for their opinions. Both thought for a few minutes as they studied the Star Map. Galaxy Commander Helmer was the first to speak up.

"If we use double jumps all the way, we can be there in just over 2 months time. Roughly a month behind the Pigeon. You have been talking about beefing up Demeter's defenses anyway. Now you have the perfect excuse to do so. I will take my Galaxy to this so called empty system, from there we will go to Demeter and see about how to beef up the local defenses. I will have less difficulty since I hold AFFC rank and Galaxy Commander Leroux does not yet hold any." Galaxy Commander Helmer said

"Okay, get your forces ready to deploy. I want my ship found and it's people back. You know how we deal with pirates Helmer, they get one chance at surrender, after that deal with them as you see fit." Scott ordered, he then looked at Galaxy Commander Leroux "Bill, I want your Galaxy ready to load if needed, break it down as best you can, we have 3 LF Monolith and 4 Odyssey Jumships here at Mackolla."

"Yes sir, I will work out a load plan as soon as I depart here." Galaxy Commander Leroux said

"Okay, both of you get gone and ready." Scott ordered

          Mackolla

Admiral Stacey Hamilton monitored the docking dropships onto the warships of her Squadron. Her squadron was not carrying a single cargo dropship, discussions with Galaxy Commander Helmer on how to move his entire Galaxy at once had precluded them. Every collar was needed to carry his troop transports. But the warships themselves had ample cargo space for all the extra supplies needed by the ground troops. They would be departing tomorrow.

 Mackolla Defense Force Deployment

 MDF Home Squadron
MDF Payback, Farragut II Battleship, Flagship
MDF Tortuga Prime, Farragut II Battleship
 MDF Valois, Nimitz II Carrier
MDF Revenge, Tarawa II LF Transport

 Alpha Galaxy, MDF
Command Trinary- 10 Omni Mech, 10 Omni Fighter
1st Assault Cluster- 60 Omni Mech, 75 Elemental, 20 Omni Fighter
3rd Battle Cluster- 60 Omni Mech, 300 Elemental
1st Striker Cluster- 45 Omni Mech, 20 Omni Fighter
73rd Striker Cluster- 55 Omni Mech, 75 Elemental, 20 Omni Fighter
1st Support Cluster- 25 Omni Mech, 10 Omni Fighter, 75 BA, 90 Tanks, 750 Infantry
2nd Support Cluster- 25 Omni Mech, 10 Omni Fighter, 75 BA, 90 Tanks, 750 Infantry

 4 Overlord C
 8 Union C
3 Titan II C (Boss' redesign)
 2 Intruder BA (256)
 4 Lee Armor
 1 Gremlin
 6 Sassanid

Due to lack of collars, the Support Clusters Infantry Trinary's had been combined onto a single Gremlin Dropship. The Galaxy's Omni Fighters had been transferred onto the only 3 Titan II Dropships produced by MAS before the SLDF order had come in. Normally, her squadron always deployed with at least 1 Elephant Tug to assist in recovery operations, but it would have to be left behind this time.

 Taussen

Precentor Sergio Alveraz, commander of the 35th Division (WoB), had placed the entire planet on high alert when the Jumpship had arrived in system on 29 December 3065. This close to New Avalon, he wished he had more forces available to him. Of the 4 Divisions on planet, 3 were still understrength.

 Taussen Garrison
35th Division (WoB)- 4 Level III
31st Division (WoB)- 3 Level III
33rd Division (WoB)- 3 Level III
36th Division (WoB)- 3 Level III

But, at least he could call upon a very powerful squadron of warships. It had taken many years, but the Word of Blake had located and recovered one of the Inner Sphere's biggest mysteries. This squadron consisted of:

 WoBS Invincible, Tharkad Battlecruiser
 WoBS Coventry- Tharkad Battlecruiser
WoBS Gallery- Commonwealth II Light Cruiser
WoBS York- Commonwealth II Light Cruiser
 WoBS Ironwood- Aegis Cruiser

Painstakingly recovered and secretly repaired by a Newgrange Yardship after being discovered, quite by accident in deep space near the abandoned system of New Stevens in 3054. It took 6 years to get the 4 ships jump capable, and Terra had fallen by then, so they had been brought to Taussen instead. Now, all were fully capable and fully staffed. The Invincible had been recovered and also painstakingly repaired and restored to service.

6 clusters vs 4 divisions even if 3 are understrength, bad odds.
The warships should win though, but Victor will have a serious problem with the wobbies so close to New Avalon. >:D

Damm this is going to be one hell of a hit

They have no idea. This is one of WoB's hidden worlds, I think. Either New Avalon gets ambushed or the convoy stumbles on to them by way of traveling through what they thought was an uninhabited system.

Yeah I had to look it up. I don't really follow anything past 3067 that dealt with the Jihad/WoB or such.

Anyway though Scott sent a message to New Avalon about where his ship went missing and a possible 'pirate' force located there. They should be able to send something to investigate much quicker, and yes likely get captured or destroyed as well. But there should be some sort of a response I would think.
