I assumed there would be some kind of surprise because of basic dramatic structure, but nope. The guy who always wins continued to always win.

Unsurprisingly, the answer to that depends a lot on who you ask. Some of the political dynamics that play out in the end I didn't see coming.

We know the ilClan lasts for a century thanks to the TROs, so it's not like any of these preparations other factions make do anything.

Clan Wolf took an early lead in the sheep stealing contest when they secured Australia and New Zealand. Malvina put in a good showing, but France and South America couldn’t make up the deficit.

It all came down to a great shear-off in Canada. Wool flying everywhere...oh, the ovinity!

I liked the last chapter well enough. My one gripe is about the blackout. That felt like a cop out. I thought there was going to be more to it. (maybe in other books)

Technically, we only know that at least one faction calls themselves ilClan in 3250. We don't really know who that is or, given the 99 year time gap, what history their claim rests on. >:D

This novel appears to have tried to swallow a sourcebook, and I'm not entirely sure it was good for its health? :o

More seriously, I'm only half-way through, but it does feel like its a somewhat different genre to even the spine novels of old. Its certainly ambitious and even a little bit innovative.
