I would like to ask anyone who may know the answer about the matter of increasing rank here at ClassicBattleTech.com.

Not very long ago, I was promoted to Lieutenant after making 800 posts.

I have since made the Millennium Club (1000+ posts) and I am gradually thinking about the day when I reach Captain.

Would my qualification for the rank of Captain be 1600 posts?

And does the qualification simply double each time thereafter?  (i.e. 3200 posts for the next rank above Captain, etc.?)

Please respond to this question at your next convenience.

It appears that Kit deSummersville has a little over 1600 posts and already has achieved the rank of Captain.

So I must be getting relatively close myself.

Thanks for responding to my question... :)

To calculate the amount of hot air one must spew for a promotion, double the amount of hot air spewed at the base measurement of one's current rank.

Promotion entitles you to 1.04 x1014 + 7i bonus internets

Don't worry about increasing your post count.  Go for quality posts, rather than quantity.  Signal to noise ratio, blather vs bliss, etc.  At the very least, it helps when searching your own posts to find a topic.  Instead of searching through multiple pages filled with one-liners, you have various topics immediately available.

Also, unless you haunt the forums, you log on maybe once per day.  Other people are similar.  Putting a quality post up means they don't have to ask you for clarification, everything is right there.  They can then ask you a question that is to the point, getting the data in a day or two, vs several days/posts.

It also helps other people.  If they want to skip over your post, they can still see everything they need without needing to load extra pages.  Think of it as courtesy.

Personally I would rather see quality post over quantity but as with all things this is my opinion. I used to post quite a bit before the crash and did my best to keep the silliness to the Hall. I still post but not near as much as I used to but I do read lots of posts and enjoy  them.
