Destroyed vs Truly Destroyed change
« on: 07 January 2019, 10:13:09 »
Hi, I was looking at BMRr for an unrelated item and I came across the definition of 'Truly Destroyed' as

Quote from: BMRr, pg 88
A BattleMech is only “truly destroyed” if its center torso internal structure is completely eliminated by artillery damage while in the target hex of an area-saturation artillery attack, or by damage from an ammo explosion. If a ’Mech’s center torso is destroyed in some other way, the ’Mech’s remaining parts may be salvageable.

vs StratOps
Quote from: SO, pg 175
A ’Mech is truly destroyed when its center torso internal structure is eliminated. Some components may be salvageable, but the ’Mech itself cannot be returned to service.

Can anyone speak to why the permanent lethality of CT destruction was broadened in SO? My players have grieved many a lost machine and would appreciate some closure on why the universe has become so much more cruel.

Right.
But to my understanding they both say the same thing, the latter with less needless ambiguity.
