BattleMech Recovery Vehicle
« on: 08 December 2024, 22:22:48 »
I'm starting a campaign and noticed an oversight. The BattleMech Recovery Vehicle and Heavy BattleMech Recovery Vehicle do not have the mech transport ability or anything that indicates it can carry a mech. According to Sarna, the BattleMech Recovery Vehicle can carry up to a 60 ton mech and the Heavy BattleMech Recovery Vehicle can carry up to 100 tons. Just curious if they should have the MT ability.

I think MT is for things that carry 'Mechs ready for combat and can disembark. The units have the CAR special rule for the right tonnage, so they can carry the mechs as cargo - just like a recovery vehicle should; it's not taking them TO the fight!
Size sometimes matters.

I would agree, except they don't have enough CT to cover the mass they're allowed to carry. Seems like an oversight.

In TW play, both of those vehicles are expected to use the external cargo rules to achieve their full carrying capacity. One presumes the same to be true in Alpha Strike?

Sixteen tons means sixteen suits. CT must be repaired.
