Where do I find sponson turrets in MegaMekLab?

Hi, I wanted to try and design a tank with sponson turrets in MegaMekLab, but they don't appear as an option even with tech level set to "unofficial".  But there is a line for sponsons in the summary fields.  Where in the interface are they located?

I think you have to set Tech level to either advanced or experimental and that option should show up in  equipment same place u pick weapons and ammo, but I think it is listed under "Other". Hope that helps.

No, it's not there.

If I load the file for the Challenger Mk. XV, there is an item called Vehicular Sponson Turret that's placed in the vehicle body.  However, it doesn't show up in the equipment list even with the Show All option, and there doesn't seem to be another obvious way to add it.  So where is it found then?

It is available post 3079 unless you click on show unavailable tech

And I'm telling you I still don't see it there.  I see the following:

VTOL Jet Booster
Vehicular DropChute (Camouflage, Reuseable, Standard, Stealth)
Vehicular Mine Dispenser
Watchdog Composite Electronic Warfare System

no Vehicular Sponson Turret.

I just installed 0.50.0 and picked New Combat Vehicle, I didn't change starting year. Tried with Stardard and Advanced Tech Levels for Inner Sphere. Went to Equipment Tab at Top. Clicked on Filter Tab for Other, scrolled all the way to the bottom and it is last choice "Vehicle Sponson Turret" right after "Vehicle Mine Dispenser". I showed up for Tracked, Hover, and VTOL motive types. Didn't try any others. And I know in the past when I selected Vehicle Sponson Turret for equipment and added it the option and space to load it appeared under the Assign Criticals Tab. I know this also worked for me in 49.1 and 49.2 versions.

Nope, 49.7, that's what it says in the Info dialog box.

Ok, that's a very old version and we did have some equipment issues back then. You should update to the new MILESTONE it runs on Java 11.

We also just dropped the new 0.50.0 release but the requires Java 17

I did exactly what you did and still don't see it.  When I use "vehic" as a text filter, the last item that shows up in the list is the mine dispenser.  A search using "sponson" returns no matches.

Combat Vehicle, 3145 year Advanced Tech Level and IS tech. Under the Other option.



If you're trying to build it on a Support Vehicle, we might have an issue.

For support vees there's a "Sponson Turret" check box on the main tab.

That actually might be a better way of doing it for Combat Vees as well, because it enforces the need for having a pair of them.

Well curiously, the version I have doesn't list sponsons as available equipment, but still recognizes them in files made in other versions that had them.  So, I loaded in a file for a Challenger variant that used them, stripped out all the weapons and equipment except for the sponson, and changed all the options step by step until I made what I wanted:
