Be careful about your equipment!
« on: 04 May 2014, 17:38:52 »
Be careful where you store your stuff.  For example, if you live in an apartment and use your bathroom to strip miniatures, clearly demarcate the toothbrush to use for your teeth from the one for miniatures.  If you don't, you might just end up with the fresh pine scent of Pine-sol in your mouth.

My guess is that this is an anecdotal piece of advise?  ;)

Also, putting your coffee near your rinse water can lead to interesting results and unintended taste experiences.

(Not that I would know anything about that...).

On the other hand, coffee might turn out to make a nice wash. O0

Reminds me of a time a couple years back when a guy accidentally cut himself and bled all over his mini, then raised the question of actually using blood as a paint or wash. Fortunately, we were able to disabuse him of the notion quickly, citing reasons medical, sanitary, and artistic. #P

My solution is to keep the rinse water closest. I only rinsed my brush in my coffee once. That was enough to think through my options. By placing the coffee or other drink farther away, the automatic motion of reaching to the nearest cup to rinse the brush will go to the rinse water. As a side benefit, it'll feel wrong if I happened to pick up my rise water cup (handle-less plastic) instead of a mug or glass with a handle even before it gets to my lips to take a sip. Like anything, it takes a little bit of effort to form a habit. This is one area I think the effort is worthwhile.

I would not know anything about that with a Coke near my rubbing alcohol I was using to thin my paint either  ^-^.

Always double-check that you're holding the spray paint with the nozzle facing away from you.

Also, be certain you know how to properly clean your eyes in case you stupidly held the spray paint the wrong way.

Agreed, except it was black paint and I looked like I hadn't shaved a nice circle around my mouth afterwards.

Hah, Kat, I tried to clear a jam on one of my primer spray bottles... Sitcom Level hilarity ensued.

Also, just accept that once you get that up in your nasal cavity, everything is going to taste like off-white. :)

Don't hold the lid to the superglue in your mouth, then try and put the nozzle back in the top. Gluing your lip to your teeth can be problematical.

One score and seven years ago, our FASAs brought forth upon this world a new hobby: conceived in giant stompiness, and dedicated to the proposition that all miniatures are created equal (except in scale).
