because the people who make the Z.O.D. game line have started directly copying clan omnimechs.
(not sure if i can link to their sales site directly, but if you go to souldark.ru and check out their Z.O.D. section you'll find them)

like the "Great Wolf Death"

the "Dire Forest Felinid"

it has direct copies of the Dire Wolf, Timber Wolf, Mad Dog, Warhawk, Nova, and Viper. so far.

not sure how much can be done when it is a (IIRC) russian company, but if nothing else Catalyst and IWM should send a C&D letter.

I hate to say it but they look better than anything out there now. Even though they are clicky-tech size.

looked at some of the other parts of their site, and they have copied some GW products as well in their space ship line

done. also, having remembered it just before, linked to the warhansa "robomechs" stuff. it is mostly clones of the MWO and MW4 designs, but there is some CGL stuff in there. and i'm sure someone in CGL might be able to let PGI and HBS know that their computer models are being ripped off.

Yeah, rather you not link to them directly here. Letting Speck and such know via PM or e-mail is preferred, thank you.

FYI, posting the name of the company and product line is the next best thing to providing a link. It isn't against the rules, but it does provide free publicity to those companies. You're giving people everything they need to look up the bootlegs themselves.

The problem is that Russia (like China) doesn't enforce copyright claims. So given it is a russian website, there is little that can be done if they decide that they don't feel like taking it down.

My first thought on seeing those was to wish they were official. Is that wrong?

Don't use your debit card or credit card directly, get a pre-loaded card and transfer money onto it as you decide.  That way if the account number/expiration date/CVV is unsecured, the thief gets nothing

Probably would be best to take this discussion somewhere else.  I doubt TPTB want to see this go on any further. C:-)

That one is more of a grey area I think.  While the stuff in the first post is clearly a direct ripoff, the Stratominis stuff isn't.

For example, compare the macross mechs to the new classics and there's clearly similarities there, but not enough for HG to shut them down.  Kinda the same thing with Stratominis' stuff.  Yeah, the mech has the same type of armament as a Warhammer, but it's hardly the only mech in any universe with two gun arms and a missile box on its shoulder.

In my opinion, the Stratominis' stuff seems to be based on popular battletech fan art.

Depending on location they could just not care or like many youtubers they just don't have a firm grasp on copyright and fair use. Case in point those who think posting a fair use disclaimer makes things all right.

It's probably less an IWM issue than it is a CGL/Topps concern. But if this company is in Russia, there is probably little anyone can do about it.

You can always hope that they accidently copy some old Robotech stuff and then watch HG go after them?

i'm assumign they at least know a lawyer who can advise, based on their comments regarding CGL's stances in the HG-vs-PGI/HBS lawsuit.

I would expect this to get escalated to Topps, if anybody was going to try to take action.

I agree that not much will likely come of this, but it's worth flagging. It ensures that the the companies involved are aware of it, and have the information needed to make informed decisions on this front.

What annoyed me was the shirts and crap appearing on FB . . . tried to report a violation to them, but b/c I am not a company representative apparently I am not a proper reporting agent.
