Overview:
Seeing the success of the Regulan Neanderthal, Kali Yama decided to create a
mech suited to close quarters conflict. While this impulse eventually led to
the development of the Quasimodo medium brawler, the first fruits of the
project centered on the highly unorthodox Trojan.
 
  Designed as a highly mobile assault class battlemech, the TRJ-001 borrows
elements from the Victor and Spartan mechs of the same weight class. Instead of
above-average ground speed however, the Trojan uses the still-rare mechanical
jump boosters to augment its mobility. Since its introduction in 3136 it has
made quite a splash among the mechwarriors of the refromed Free Worlds Military.


Capabilities:
    While a tough mech capable of carrying out a variety of missions, the heart
of the Trojan is its mobility. An array of mechanical jump boosters mounted in
the legs give the Trojan an astounding 180 meter jump radius. The story of the
TRJ is a story about that curiosity from the Solaris arenas, the mechancial
jump boosters. This system essentially turns the legs into a pair giant springs
which, while heavy, have the advantage of not generating heat, a significant
issue for conventional jumpjets.

    The rest of the mech follows a more traditional paradigm. Thick layers of
Durallex light ferro on top of an endo-composite frame protect the internal
components. Triple strength myomer fibers give the Trojan an adavntage once it
has closed with its opponent. While the offensive payload is suficient for most
tactical situations, the mech shines in the role of brawler.


Deployment:
    Initially deployed among the Oriente Hussars in order to test its viability
in combat conditions, the Trojan has since dispersed among most of the reformed
Free Wolrds Military. The need for additional trainng to properly employ the
jump boosters has slowed proliferation to a crawl. Nevertheless, the outlook is
positive and the Trojan continues to raise its profile among the various
brigades.


Variants:
    The original TRJ bore some differences from the final production model. Due
to the enormous stresses put upon the chassis as a result of tossing eighty
tons of metal and composites through the air with abandon, the original Trojan
was built around a reinforced skeleton. This protected the extralight
components, but came at the cost of a somewhat reduced weapon array. Once the
jump sequence was refined and made more graceful, the engineers were able to
replace the skeleton with endo composites.
