(Answered/Reminder) Submerged units and naval vessels.

Page 41, Underwater Combat:

Quote
A completely submerged unit has LOS to and may attack completely or partially submerged units in the same water feature (if a unit can trace LOS entirely through water, it is in the same water feature) . Attacks are blocked from a partially submerged or non-submerged unit to a completely submerged unit and also from completely submerged units to units on the surface of the water...

Page 70, under Water Hexes

Quote
Depth 2 or deeper water completely blocks LOS between the ’Mech standing in that hex and any non-naval units on the surface.

The first part implies that a unit underwater cannot attack a naval unit on the surface of a water feature, but the second part under the conversion rules seems to indicate that an underwater unit could have LOS with a naval vessel.

Does this mean that an underwater unit can attack a naval unit when using hex maps, but not when using terrain?

Yes.

It will be looked at in the future, but that's currently the rules, yes.
