Suppression fire
« on: 12 October 2018, 08:00:39 »
Hi community

I want to know, in the following paragraph of the rule book , page 174 (i quote)

"In a suppression fire attack, a line of shots is directed
across an area without actually aiming at a specific target. To
execute a suppression fire attack, the attacker must trace a line
of adjacent 1-meter hexes (or spaces 1 meter in diameter), while
firing at least one shot (and up to 5) into each one."

Does that mean

1°)I draw circles on the map 1 m diameter each in a straight line from the position of the shooter to the potentials target, in this case that mean i am limited for a short range (due to number of shot in burst fire)

Or

2°) I first draw a circle on a target and then i draw the others circles adjacent to the first one ?

Does it seem clear for you ?

Hi,

we play it with the second Option. The first, for me and my group, makes no sense.

this may not be totally accurate, but it goes to my understanding of the intent.

1 you decide that you are going to initiate suppressing fire.
2 determine the affected hexes, and "mark them"
3 determine the number of rounds to go to each of the suppressed hexes.
4 make the relevant checks if any targets are in /enter the affected hexes.

essentially it boils down to determine and mark the hexes that have to be continuous and ajacient

Yeah rules as written are pretty much as guardiandaishi and option 2 state.  Which can have a bit of a problem with teleporting bullets/beams in that if someone moves through a hex between the shooter and any of the target hexes without something like differences in elevation or some other reasonable explanation can move through completely unharmed.

I do have a house rule to fix that which is pretty simple down in the fan rules forum(may take some digging as I actually have a lot).
