Any chance the nice folks at IWM, or a member of the QC group could post a preview picture of the Night Wolf miniature? I can't wait any longer.
Thanks in advance.
-
I second that! [drool]
-
Thirded, how's the mech looking? This is one of the ones that I've seriously been looking forward to. I just pray that it's not disappointing.
-
Doesn't seem like it's available yet. I'm blaming the weather.

see, i usually blame the education system ;)
-
I can be patient for the release of the mini. I am however jonesing to see a picture of the sculpt... [whipit]
-
i want to see the picture before i buy it cause i have little faith that this one will be done correctly
-
Word is that the Feb. releases are running behind schedule. We're *trying* to get it set up at CSO that we'll be able to get the new minis and get them painted up around (or better, before) their release... I'm on deck to do the Night Wolf when it gets here, and have the same hope/fear combination regarding it.

do you ever get the chance to sculpt anymore? there are several that i think would best be handled by you, if i may be so bold

Awsome!,I have high hopes for this mini [drool]

I honestly didn't know anything about this mech until I saw this post and so I went to Sarna and looked it up. I tend to agree. This is a mech that has a LOT of detail and a LOT of surface that needs to be detailed. I'm not quite sure how this would come out of a mold!

You should buy TRO 3085, you could find out a lot about this 'Mech there.

Perhaps then you would be able to give us a quick preview of the miniature before painting it?
I can't wait to see what you do with the scheme selection. You should maybe have the community vote?
I would like to see your take on ether the Golden Keshik, or the Grey Keshik.
-

If things line up for a project, then yes.

I'm loathe to do that because it's exactly what we're trying to get away from; unfinished minis as the only image giving a poor first impression of a new piece. When it does arrive, it will get priority for painting, and that's about all I'm willing to commit to. If I remember at the time, I'll try to snap some pics of the parts and assembled mini, to post at the same time as the painted pics... If I forget, well, you can expect an honest assessment of the mini afterward, possibly tempered for public consumption. ;) For the scheme, I've got a couple thoughts, which may go down to the point of pulling out paints before the final decision is made, and they aren't up for debate or vote either. :)

yeah, last thing I need is another Flamberge nitpick

Say no more. I completely understand. I will wait patiently for the painted pictures of the Night Wolf. Thanks for the insight.

And this is why we use CAD to prototype the art even if you do ultimately hand-sculpt the model. Perfect proportions, no detail missed or misrepresented. There wouldn't have been any "nitpicks" on the Flamberge or Karhu to begin with.
Regardless, still looking forward to the Night Wolf. With that much detail, there's no way the thing's going to disappoint even if the proportions are a little wonky.

Guess the local store owner is a bit different, then... He prefers the pictures to be unpainted, so he doesn't have disappointed customers asking why they didn't come pre-painted... :-\
-
I think the idea is to get the painted pics out first. To get a positive vibe flowing. Not to altogether do away with unpainted photos... *shrug*

It's called marketing.
Do those customers ask why the minis aren't pre-assembled too?
I'm going to assume there's more to it than just a few people relatively new to gaming that don't understand the differences between games and minis.
PS - no sign of the Night Wolf yet.

O0 [watch] (I am going to be the same way when the MK IV Madcat is due) [watch]

Night Wolf sculpted -- needed some minor tweaks before release -- should be very soon. Koschei sculpted -- needed more work -- should be soon as well. Winston Combat Vehicle sculpted -- only had a brief chance to look at images of it -- something seemed off but I couldn't properly address it in the time before I left on a trip ( also had a computer problem -- was without one from February 14th-22nd ). I noted my vague concerns and left it to others to identify them and suggest corrections -- I have no idea about the outcome at this point.

So, I was down visiting the guys down at IWM, and I got to see the Night Wolf. I am very pleased with how it looks and look forward to seeing what Psycho can do with it.

Now that you're saying this I can have faith again. :)
And yes, before you ask, I'm eagerly awaiting the Night Wolf. :)
-
The only concern I had were the foot of the Night Wolf.I feel better some people have seen it,Cant wait to buy 2 [drool] O0
-
I've been looking forward to seeing this mech as well. Psycho does an awesome job, so I can't wait!
Any word?
-
Haha...look at all us Wolves foaming at the mouth. You'd think we were talking about who gets the last of the Jade Turkey samiches' or something...
-
You think this is bad? Wait till theres talk of the War Wolf and Wulfen and Blood Reaper, then it will get bad [notworthy] [notworthy] [drool] [drool]
-
Nightwolf is looking pretty damn nice.

Awesome. It makes me want to get one and start painting a Clan Wolf force.
-
nice!

Same. There's something attractive about it in design and in stats.
-
For some reason, the first description that popped into my head was "cute." ???
Meh, I might just pick up a few! Excellent job.
-
The legs are looking rather wiry in that photo in comparison to the art. Will reserve full judgment till I get my own model.

Shocka Time Thanks for posting this, getting at least 3 O0
-
It looks pretty. It has a lot of details. Even now it looks good, I hope to see painted (or, even better, in my own hands [drool] [drool]).
Shockatime, thanks for posting it. Did you have any issue with mold lines, flash or misalignments?
Thank you in advance!
-

Oh yes! It will indeed!
-
it looks like a cauldron born and a Mad Cat Mk II had sex, and this was the disgusting bastard offspring of that unholy union...
I LIKE IT! [rockon]
as far as the legs looking spindly, I would have to see it next to another assault mech mini, but if the legs are thinner it was probably a consolation made to keep it in the semi agreed upon scale
-
I think it just looks like the legs are a bit thin, because of the photograph. From the current angle the torso looks extremely wide, due to the left arm blocking the way, making the legs seem thin.
From a frontal angle it should look more fitting.
-

I haven't been able to buy one yet (unfortunately) so I'm not sure.

The legs actually seem fine, at least to me. in the art the legs aren't that beefy in any case.
BTW the picture is just from IWM so you can go check it out there, plus the pics for the Koschei and Winson (both look unreal as well) are also up.
-
What's the size like? At a glance it looks comparable in size and bulk to a Mad Cat Mk.II, but I'm quite curious to know what it ended up being like.
The gaming budget is on hold for a while, but this might have to be a new treat to work on later this year, for sure.

Koschei looks spot on from the photo there.
The Night wolf, not so much. The art of the night wolf definitely represents it having legs quite a bit thicker than what we see in the preview and taper off into its feet quite a bit more drastically. Take a look.
Again it could just be the photo but I doubt anyone's "photo-fu" skills are so bad they start refracting light..
-
Koschei is ugly as sin anyway, much like the Phoenix I am pleased.
-

Believe me, it is possible... that's why I don't take pictures of my miniatures anymore.
But I would prefer it, if IWM would provide us with pictures from multiple angles. Front, side and rear. Would make it easier to get a real opinion.
-
that is what camospecs.com is for
-
I know, but not all customers know that and so they are not able to see the "advanced" pictures.

Not to step on anybody's toes, but seeing the pic Shocka posted, I went and blackened one and did a comparison to the only handy assault I had. Here are some quick shots, and to answer some questions, no misalignment at all, and mold lines while present are not that major. Sorry I didn't have time to assemble it. I've been a bit pre-occupied with my week old daughter. But these shots should give a decent idea of what everything looks like in addition to the previously posted pic.
I look forward to seeing what the Camospecs guys will do with it, as I know my limited painting abilities will not do it justice at all.

and that is why it is up to us veterans to point them there.

Thanks for the photos GhostBear O0
Seeing it like that I honestly think it looks even better, IMO.
-
No problem Shocka, I was really hoping for the camospecs pictures to go up first. It's just when there is one picture out there that doesn't really do the piece it's necessary justice, I feel like I should do something if I can.
Having seen IWM assembled one blackened last weekend I was really pleased with how it turned out.
-
damn fine sculpt I say, if the legs are comperable to a Mk IIs legs

Heh, I called that scale about perfectly, didn't I? :D
Looks great, might have to try to shoehorn that one into the budget somewhere one of these days. I can stand to skip a meal somewhere ;)

Sorry I was distracted by the pictures of the Night Wolf,Hope your Daughters O.K.
-
Awesome, thanks for the pics.
Would it be possible to get another shot of the arms? I'm curious to see whether the circular joints have been sculpted or done away with for simplicity's sake.
The legs are definitely looking a bit better from that angle, but some GS and some panel lining wouldn't hurt.
-
Sorry I was distracted by the pictures of the Night Wolf,Hope your Daughters O.K.
Baby is fine, just your regular newborn distractions. It's a bit harder to get into the basement to access my workshop than usual when trying to take care of her while my wife is job hunting.
And I completely understand getting distracted by the new shiny things.
-

Without managing to sneak back down to the shop, i can say this: the arms are designed like many IWM minis, you can see the socket for the arms to fit into on the torso. The arms themselves are free of detail on the inside of the shoulder and have a hemisphere to fit into the socket. No extra detail there.
-
What about the "elbow"? Where the gun is jointed to the shoulder.

Does that help?
Not my best photo, but should give you what you are looking for.

Yeah, that's enough, thanks.

You guys made my day! Thanks for taking the time to post some pictures. This sculpt looks fantastic! {>{> {>{> {>{> {>{> {>{>

Omg that thing is beautiful.... must get at least 2!
-
Wow, this truly is a must-get 'Mech! 8) My funds are currently tied up, but once summer gets here, I may be able to expand the disposable income. >.> Gonna have to get a few other Wolf 'Mechs to support it! I really like the look o this one, and am pleased to see how well it came out and was received.
-
Man, am I not looking foward to when the Wulfen [drool] and WarWolf [drool] are announced, thats ALOT of pestering people [tickedoff] :D :D
-
::inner monologue:: yes, yes, finally a mech to support my Mad Cat II.
glad to see that this puppy is being done. can't wait (actually i can) to see a Blood Reaper or (i know it will be a while) Warwolf and Wulfen
-
It's now available. So are the Koschie, Winston, and Quasit.
-
Just bought my Night Wolf, model was very nice with very few mold lines, get em while their fresh. :)
-
Here are a few of the one I am doing. It is mostly done, but I hope you guys like it.

I assume you can tilt the torso so the model's similar to the TRO in posture?
-
MY GOD! That things beautiful {>{> I am going to paint my first one in Beta Galaxy colors too.
-
I'm kinda tempted to get a Clan Wolf force just so I can field one of those now.
-
I assume you can tilt the torso so the model's similar to the TRO in posture?
No not really. You will have to put putty in between the torso and the "bottom". 1 leg and the "bottom" are molded together at the pictured angle.
-

Sounds more like chop, pin 'n' glue at the hips to me. :)
Too bad, however, addtl work is necessary to give it that hunched-over look from the TRO.
-
I got my 3 on the way now [rockon] I am doing one in Beta Galaxy, one in Future Clan Wolf and one in standard Grey,Can not wait! O0
-
Just ordered mine, pretty excited to get it.
-
That looks good, looks a little like the Supernova in the Torso area, something I approve of!
-
(http://i574.photobucket.com/albums/ss190/noobk/securedownload-2.jpg)
That would be my work in progress.
-
looking good O0
-
That looks Great! O0 (mines not here yet [tickedoff])
-
I am having a TON of issues drybrushing some color back into it. I gave a heavy wash of devlan mud. But my drybrushing is really failing me. I either take too much paint off or not enough. I got really frustrated with it and had to walk away for a bit.... #P Have not touched the model since I posted that. Even the first go around at flocking the base was a bad experience. I am pretty anti clan so I think the model has put some sort of clan voodoo on me....
-
Chanel the Inner-Wolf in you(no pun intended ::))Remember dip in paint-remove most of it and dry brush, take your time O0 (and my minis are not here yet still [tickedoff])
-
Great looking mini, but unfortunately it got released just a little too late: I just did an inventory of my stuff and decided I needed to stop getting minis for the time being as my collection's getting too large to be manageable.
-
TOO LARGE?Is there such a thing as TOO large? One more can not hurt too much, throw a'nother on the barbee :D
-
It's too large when I start running out of storage space.
-
Baggies allow you to pack things tighter than blisters. Just be sure to label them. ;)
-
Mines FINALLY here! [rockon] [rockon] Gonna start cleaning them tommorrow,First ones going to be Beta Galaxy, followed by Future Clan Wolf then standard Grey O0
-
Lucky one!
I found out my petty cash won't help me getting a Night Wolf this month, maybe not even before May... *sniff*
Donations are welcome. *lol*
-
Just got mine today! probably going to have to wait for the weekend to roll around before I can do anything with it though.
-
I've got mine assembled and ready for primer but I still haven't decided on a scheme
-
You guys are all making it tough to not get one! I'll have to order one here asap, it looks too good to pass up!
-
I finished building mine yesterday, and it really is a fantastic mini well worth the time and money imo.
-
Got mine today, finished building it five minutes ago.
I put the left leg in a frontal position, I think it looks more fluent that way. The mini didn't require much work, just minor things that needed to be removed to make the mini fit better, nothing serious.
It looks really great. Now, as always, I just need to find someone to paint it, because my painting skills wouldn't do it justice.
