Need help verifying a possible PCGen bug
« on: 04 February 2013, 12:19:31 »
A druid L1 character received Animal Companion. The program correctly loaded the animal companion character build with what looks to be the correct stats and options from the Core book including 7 animal tricks (1 bonus trick for level 1 and 6 "character trained" tricks for INT 2). I saved the character and later restarted the program. Now it gives me an error saying that the correct number of animal tricks should be 0 and I have a deficit of -7. Does that look like a bug I should report on Jira or is something else going on?

Pathfinder RPG for players is the only source loaded.

ok from my research

http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/skills/handleAnimal.html#_handle-animal
animal iq 2 = 6 tricks

http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/classes/druid.html

2nd table (animal companion)
says 1 "bonus" trick

so ya 7 should be the correct number not sure why it glitched out on the reload.. may want to check with app person

It turns out you need to load the owning character first and then load the companion from the character. That causes all the relational stats to load including the correct number of tricks.
