[Syberia] Spybird Recon Drone
« on: 10 April 2020, 19:41:29 »
Used by nearly every action on Syberia that fields Sounder Wheeled AutoMechs or their derivatives, the Spybird is a 3-ton reconnaissance drone small enough to be carried within the Sounder's internal cargo holds.

Due to their small size, and ability to ride piggyback in an AutoMech's cargo hold, Spybirds do not use fusion power, instead using solar cells on their wings, which power ducted fans, to fly.  While this limits their speed, it also means their powerplants do not interfere with the Sounder's fusion reactor.  The ducted fans are positioned in such a way as to permit VSTOL operations.  Spybirds are not well armored, and armament is light, equivalent to two Mauser 960 rifles.

The important part of the Spybird drone is its intelligence-gathering capabilities.  In the head of the drone is a sophisticated recon camera, while aft is a remote sensor dispenser, for use by its parent unit.

I thought all solar-powered builds had to be rather large?

Solar is available to small support vehicles.  As for size, it's a 3-ton birdplane.  That can be plenty big.

Speedy for solar power, but love the Recon Camera/Remote Sensor Dispenser combo!

I was thinking. Do you need to have a like a robotic launch bay inside a Sounder? It would make sense because cargo isn't able to launch like a launch bay so I would imagine you would have to invent a new type of Arts like the ones they have on newer ships in the Dark Age Era. Like the Leviathan 3 for instance. It's a really clever design you made.

Did Soundwave manually eject Buzzsaw and Lazerbeak or did they jump out on their own?

I beleive he commanded them too eject when he needed them

Both.  In early episodes of Transformers he did it press his own eject button.  In the Transformers The Movie (1986) he commanded them to eject, and attack. They all popped out on their own.
