Sounds like the answer is marketing gimmick then.

And I was the one who originally thought that the metal Wasp and Valk were different from the plastic minis, but according to Speck they are not.

They are slightly different from the ones in the CGL Forcepacks including details and some slight scaling differences on the Wasp.

Speck has mentioned that Catalyst is doing those, so it will probably be a little while before they get released by IWM.

I believe he mentioned that in regards to them doing the artwork and associated 3D renders for them and that there was no sense in IWM doing the renders and doubling up on the work. Not necessarily that they will be CGL releases.

Back to the subject of Pipeline Speculation...  I'm predicting we get several ilClan mechs in the First/Second Quarter Release (as opposed to Classic Inner Sphere designs).

You and me both.
The Otter was one of the final two illustrations I was blessed get assigned before being told that my work was not good enough to continue freelance BT.
As such it holds a special place. With the new Grizzly plastic-- I doubt we'll ever see an otter mini.

Maybe not in the plastic, but with what they are doing I would be surprised by that . . . sure you might be able to proxy a Griz, but I would expect it to come out from IWM at some point.  Wolf, Falcon, and Bear mechs are probably the top selling Clan designs.

Would we need pool money to get the Otter made like other minis in the past?

That's a real shame, your artwork has made for some of the best IWM minis in the past few years!

Wait, Historical: Brush Wars and Handbook: House Marik were printed with the art they did and it's yours that wasn't good enough for BattleTech?

Agreed.  For example, the Primitive Wasp has become my absolute favorite Wasp art since its introduction.

:cussing:  Does this mean that the Devil was the other one?  As a OWA/RA player this is frustrating as I'm guessing no Otter also means no Devil.

This makes no sense as your work was good enough to feature in multiple RG:iC volumes, including as the cover art.

I really appreciate the kind words. There are many great people here. One of the reasons Battletech has been such an obsession over the years. Come for the stompy-stompy. Stay for the community!

Known Glitch-- Matt Cross was working on the Devil model some months back. I thought it would eventually happen. However, from what little I've heard through the grapevine I believe he is now working on other projects? I wouldn't give up hope on the Devil. Supposedly Anthony has done a heavy revision to the art before Matt's modeling.

Yeah, as a business leader I can't imagine telling a freelancer that their work is "not good enough" as the basis for cutting ties.  Why not just say "we're interested in a different artwork direction" or something like that?   Crazy.

@IAMCLANWOLF - you're work IS valuable and I've enjoyed it.

Do you mean metal version of the new art for Phoenix Hawk and Stinger?

I plan to update the release schedule after the holidays.

Hi Speck, do you still have plans to release the next schedule? Thanks!
