There are some anti-aircraft weapons that are useful enough in other combat roles.  The first of this fortnight's BattleMechs, the JagerMech is not one of those.  The Federated Commonwealth decided to give it a sequel, for the pride of the nation or somesuch, and gave us the JagerMech III.  Lest I keep going, I'll direct you to the 'Mech of the Week article for these and actually talk about the miniatures.

Like many 'Mechs originally from TRO 3025, the JagerMech only really has one sculpt:
  • The original sculpt released by Ral Partha and still available from Iron Wind Metals (20-861).
  • The beginners set sculpt based on the original sculpt.
  • The plastic mini released in the previous intro boxes, based on the beginners set sculpt.
The JagerMech III only has a single sculpt (and only a single painted example on CamoSpecs) (20-815).

If you have any of these painted, please share pictures.  We'd love to see them!

As always, thank you for reading and a special thank you to those of you who post.

Our next two fortnights will be:
  • Clan (10/22): Horned Owl (Peregrine)
  • Inner Sphere (11/5): Stalker

I only have Jagermechs for the Crucis Lancers. Two of them for the 5th Crucis and one Jagermech III for the 1st.

A representative of the Oosik Irregulars 1st Battalion, Charlie Lance.  A custom (on paper, anyway) JagerMech in Mountain Line camo and Oosiks parade colors, piloted by MechWarrior StayFrosty.

The Jager was one of the designs I liked for looks alone.  Ended up kitbashing several of the versions as well as magnetizing the Jager and Jager III.

JM6-S, early attempt at the JM6-A
JM7-F and a JM6-DG
Magnetic Jager and Jagermech III with different weapon options.
Jagermech III and a custom RAC version of the A variant.

Jagerparty!

The JagerMech is such a great design for modifications, I'm surprised the Davions didn't make it an Omni. Here we have:

- the JagerArrow, twin Arrow IV
- Stock Jagermech from the 25th Anniversary box
- This is my head-canon for the JM7-D or "JagerMech II" - it's JMIII arms & legs on a standard torso. I love the added heft.
- The JagerBow - JM with Longbow's armament (actually Katyusha pods)
- JM-6H with rocket pods
- and a stock JM6-DD.

Jager on!

So was it the artist or the sculptor who forgot to give the Jagermech III a cockpit?

Good news is the lab boys say the symptoms of asbestos poisoning show an immediate latency of 44.6 years. So if you're thirty or over you're laughing. Worst case scenario you miss out on a few rounds of canasta, plus you've forwarded the cause of science by three centuries. I punch those numbers into my calculator, it makes a happy face.
