The Battletech Map Emporium

...because we need more maps. We always need more.  :D

The Emporium needs you! If you have a map, feel free to share it with others.

First off, I made some halfway-decent map of the Taurian Concordat in 3062. There's still issues with the stars and the colors don't transfer well to the jpg. Better than nothing, I guess.  :(

That's kind of sharp. Like to have that as a wall paper to put up in my den.

very well done ! I want the same with hansa territory ! this map can be a very good presentation for the periphery and to show to the player it's largely better than the classical colors.  ;)

Hansa territory is a problem because I don't know the planets. It looks kind of silly without them, because the JPG transformation eats the colors.   :-\

So how did you make this, more or less? I have some Photoshop and Illustrator skills and I'd like to help, but I don't know where to begin.

Trace existing map, apply starfield/grid, apply color (use gaussian blur at 20 twice), profit.

I've uploaded the XCF file (I did it with GIMP) here. Hope that is helpful for you. :)

Hansa: no, that's pointless.
Nova Castille: pointless.
Jarnfolk: Sure, I can do that.

What are Clan Tri-worlds?

In other news, I finally got the hang of these "star" thingies. Now with Pirates Haven cluster.

Nice maps. I think the font doesn't work too well at that scale however, and makes the planet names rather hard to read - I'd suggest a simple white ariel font personally. :)

Okay, here's the requestes Járnfolk map.
First with the BT Oldschool text, and once with DejaVu Sans.
Which one is better?

I love maps.  Any BT book with maps in them, I instantly drool over.  Shattered Sphere is a great example.  Or the Handbook series, with the maps that change over time.  Love it!

Keep the maps coming!   :D

They look definitely better with the BT Oldschool text.  [drool]

Looks great. I would use the DejaVu Sans with the worlds and keep the BT Oldschool with the titles and such. Perhaps even a color shift for the world names to bring them out more.

That's pretty much described in the first post: it's a thread for people to post their maps in.
Those I've posted so far are just supposed to look pretty and space-y.

Like this? I can't really make the names whiter than white, so other than that, shifting is right out.

I love the map but my Norton and WindowsDefender went nuts when I clicked on the map. Said a spyware attempt was made. You might want to check on that.

The maps are excellent but I really dig that 80's scifi lettering the most.  [rockon]
