Iron Dawn Review
« on: 16 August 2019, 08:53:29 »
Iron Dawn by Jennifer Brozek is the first of the Rogue Academy series. It is centered around the cadets of Ritza Academy in 3150 on New Exeter. Cadets Jasper and Nadine Roux lead an unauthorized rescue mission of Baron Zachary and Baroness Sharon Vogel the night before they are to be executed by Tai-sa Takkeji Yoshizawa of the Seventh Ghost Regiment of the Draconis Combine.

Tai-sa Yoshizawa planned to used New Exeter to stage a series of peaceful invasions only to find out that he had not planned as well as he should have. The peaceful turnover begins a rebellion waiting to strive, via hand gestures in Vogens address.

When the rebels struck, the nobles he held hostage were freed, but one cadet was killed in action with another captured. This first taste of war was not easy on the cadets, with heros knowing better than accepting praise. War, War never changes.

This is a great book targeting the teenage audience, though in my not-so-humble opinion, it is great for anyone whose interest is piqued. It centers around the theme of underdogs learning how to use what is at their disposal. Most of all, not to underestimate people just because they are not adults.
