I was going through the IWM catalog looking for the mechs I feel would benefit from a resculpt, here is the list I came up with and I'd like to know what your vote is.

Thanks

The Catapult has already been resculpted once for an LE and can easily a C1, A1, C3, C5, C5A, Nearly all of the K* series...

Do we have a definitive list of which were the Con LE 'Mechs from the various years?  *Sends out the SpeckLight*

I was tied between the Dragon (being a die-hard Kuritan) and the Uziel (hate that frog faced mini, but love the various artwork of the Uzi), so I guess it's gotta be a slightly chunkier Uzi, with the proper cockpit this time, as per the art.

I want a Berzerker with a Hammer.  If not the Hammer 'mech weilded as a weapon, then a giant hammer (Berzerker-sized).

Man, I'm torn between a resculpted Imp and Highlander.  Both have a lot of potential for improvement and are some of my favorite 'mechs.  The Imp would be great for players wanting to play the Golden Century-era Clans.

Have you tried replacing the legs with something else? I admit I've considered doing so on another Devastator sometime- my current one is in the original pose, but it's not great, I admit. Someone around here has to have some ideas though on a set of legs that won't look ridiculous on it.

I chose the Highlander, Aside from the IIC it's never been resculpted and to be fair, though i love the mech in game, the mini has always sort of been a boring one.

I had to vote Uziel. Only mech I've encountered where extra sculpting/kitbashing is practically required.

i would give a limb to own a catapult with the ppcs, that sculpt was amazing, i realize it's already been done. i'm a firm believer that jumping mechs have been beaten to death, and they're so unoriginal that there are now production pieces in a jumping pose, on top of that i have the bashing skills to make my mechs jumping. i would rather have variants like the banshee with the axe for example, or unique variants of btech heroes like direwolf widowmaker or a fire moth aletha in a really cool pose. not necessarily a proponent of any those in particular, just throwing out what i think is coolest

Got to agree with the Colonel. The Highlander IIC is so good, and the poor old Highlander is so dumpy & static. I ended up sacrificing the gauss from my IIC and mounting it on my Highlander, just to give it the dash and vigour it deserves. A taller model in a walking pose, with a gun that doesn't look like a beehive - ideally base/legs/hips one piece, torso another, separate arms; I'd like a separate head like the IIC, but wouldn't die if the head was one piece with the torso.

I did. And it's nice.

I'm just not that fond of the fact the mini looks like it is tripping over a stray Omni-mech that some Clanner left laying about. It's kind of like the Kodiak mini, whose pose reminds me of the Bo Derek scene in "10"...

(And Hellbie, I'm already working on your suggestion about the Devastator top and Patriot's legs...)

Gunslinger and Cerberus are certainly worthy of a resculpt, but had to put the Highlander first.

Ultimately, anything that is NOT jumping would be pretty sweet.

I'd back that second part. The jumping thing has been overdone- and isn't all that useful for the tabletop anyway (the Hatchetman aside).

+1... How many times should I +1 this?... I hate the current Imp (freaky Golfball mech...) but actually like the Imp's art from Klondike... that should be the Imp sculpt we have not the current hideous one.

Dragon. It deserves a resculpt and needs a more dynamic pose. If another jumping mech was going to be done then the Highlander.

A lot of those minis could benefit from a resculpt, but for a convention exclusive I think I'd have to go for the Klondike Imp or a special edition Highlander. (Maybe a double sized kit with the Highlander *landing* on some hapless victim. }:) )

Well, I did see the LE Catapult sculpt (containing bits for PPCs and missiles) in their booth at GenCon...  :-\

And I bought one! :)

And though it was the last one on the rack that day, the next day when I went that had more!

Do they still sell that one?

I know its available at cons.  As far as other outlets I just don't know.

DON'T resculpt the normal Highlander, by the blood of Kerensky. :o  It looks fine as it is.

Now if people vote to create a special "jumping" Highlander for GenCon only, that's different. :)

[They already resculpted the Wolfhound, the other 'Mech my dad likes, and it looks terrible compared to the original sculpt.] [tickedoff]

Personally, I don't agree - I find the current mini, while detailed, stuck in a boring static pose, looking more cuddly/chubby than intimidating. And the Gauss arm really doesn't look "fires hypersonic metal slugs the size of a watermelon" to me. Compared to the sublime Highlander IIC, I find it very non-threatening - compared to (say) the cover art from "Northwind Highlanders", where it looks more menacing.

I agree with Worktroll.....the Highlander needs a fix.........a better gun (yes), and an actual LRM-20 pack (maybe)......

As a side point, the Cougar needs to be a little smaller..the mini is huge

I thought that the LRM pack on the Highlander was supposed to be like the one on the Atlas:  five tubes that can each shoot four missiles in a salvo?

And IWM should seriously consider doing what Reaper does with their con exclusive Sophies.

Sell them online during the con, IWM would just have to pick a con. Reaper does this during ReaperCon.

since the Highlander is the far and away winner (presuming you don't combine other and another jumper) I say that it needs to be a jumping highlander performing a burial on a clearly crushed light mech.  perfect would the base would have some VERY FAMILIAR (I would say resembling an unseen stinger) legs underneath it.

Agreed on the King Crab, but it's possible to work with the mini (I used DA parts for new legs, and the old legs became the arms - they really worked well, being beefier).

A new Hoplite based off the art from Operation Klondike.

As much as I have a dislike for the jumping mech's, a jumping Highlander would be forgivable.

i cast my vote for the Dragon, aside from the lance pack for sorenson's Sabers, the Dragon only has two sculpts. the old lead one piece sculpt, and the slightly newer two piece sculpt that is just the old sculpt with out the 'scale' effect on the armor.

i would dearly love to see what could be done for an LE sculpt
Overkill is only overkill when you cannot find the pieces.

Hm... IIRC the Highlander was approved for resculpting some time ago so it is not one of the best ideas. The Dragon or, even better, a "MWDA" King Crab would be more sensible ideas. I reposed a Dragon some time ago and it needed some time, but the effort was worth.

Okay... this might be like a barrel of lighter gas into a campfire...

The Highlander could need a resculpt. Right. But not as a con mini, as a regularly purchasble one! I will not spend 620$ on a single mini (600$ on a flightticket and another 20$ on the mini itself). And other people want to buy that resculpt as well, not only east coast north america.
And another jumping mech - even if it would be a Highlander - would add much acceptance if the firing plums would be detacheable so that a builder could decide to do it conventionally or jumping. But, please, not another jumper just to sell a jumper with no options at all.

There are several minis on the list, that could need a resculpt badly: Cobra, Jagermech III, Nightstar (mostly because of the arms...) and maybe even more. But these resculpts are wanted by anyone and not only a small part of the community that can make it to one of the few cons where these LE models are sold.

And while a 'boot to the head' dragon would make up for one of the most popular scenes out of the TW, there is already at least a second resculpt (first sculpt with scales, second and actual without scales) out there: the Dragon & Sword Emory Dragon. So... is there really a need for another dragon?

And what it is about those freaking running poses? I don't get it at all! I had to chop my Devastator to get it into a more normal walking pose as well as the Matador. And i'm not very happy with the Huntsman/Nobori-Nin and would chop the Battleaxe as well if i would get across one sometime in the future. And burn that Liao Marauder with its fuggly crane pose! [tickedoff] I am a player and i don't play at home. Transporting those posed minis is a PITA. Stop posing mechs for other people not really interested in posed mini. Several parts? Doing it yourself? It's up to you, but please not another load of tumbling robot figures too fragile to move from the shelf.

So i am fine with a personalized Omnimech like the Daishi Widowmaker, Prometheus or Templar Tankred. But please not another jumper or a resculpted mini hardly anyone out there will be able to obtain.

You know? I originally voted 'Imp', but now that I've had a couple of days to think about it, I think I'd vote 'other'. There are a lot of cool one-off units in the XTRO series, and a lot of good art to go with hem. Small production limited edition projects and XTRO's seem like a perfect fit to me!

Interesting idea, actually. A Con exclusive might be a good way to get, say, Schwer Gustav done, for example.

@ Those who want a new Dragon. There is no need for a new re sculpt when the current sculpt lends itself to be modified like this. If a new Dragon sculpt is ever issued it should have unattached arms and legs to be glued on for making dynamic poses easy...like mine here.

I voted for the Highlander by the way.

I've done something similar, but since some people out their aren't interested in doing that level of work I included the dragon anyway.

Conversely, I considered but rejected the Devestator for this poll because I've modified the legs on that mini as well and found it to be an extremely simple fix for reposing.

Honestly, the reason I would vote for the new Dragon (not saying I did or did not) is due to the new art for the main cannon. That looks cool... the static pose is something I've lived with for decades in mini games... cut, green, mod, or live with.

I just really want the Imp redone as the Klondike Imp.

Thank you to everyone who voted, I think the clear winner is the Highlander and it would be a great choice to have resculpted and released at next years con.

Many people have been calling for a resculpt for a long time and I suppose if you were going to make a mech that could be posed with or without the jump plumes, this would be a great choice for it.

I know some have critizied the idea of making this a con exclusive but, as we've seen since the Jade Hawk, the con exclusive is often for sale online after the con is over. People would still be able to pick it up afterwards until the supplies ran out.

I also think an acceptable solution would be to make this a multipart kit. That way the con exclusive could have a set of jumping legs and the resculpt, that would be sold regularly from that point on, could have legs sculpted in a traditional walking pose.

Thanks again to all those that voted and I'm glad to see that every sculpt on the list got at least one vote, I think that we can all agree that every mech on that list could stand to have some attention in the near future.

PS. Pope, if you could get the good folks at IWM to put the K4 Catapult up for sale on the site, I'm sure that people like myself, who don't own one because they didn't get to go to the con, would be very excited and happy to see it.

I personally think if any jump pose is going to be sculpted into a Highlander Mech it needs to be sculpted in mid Highlander-burial.  How about a stinger sticking out of the ground at about it's shoulders with some smoke coming out to help support the Highlander's bulkier sculpt?

No, just sculpt it so that the stem connecting it to the base comes out in an arc with enough room for another mech to be placed underneath it.

Any chance of this year's LE Riflemen making an appearance as online exclusives?

i would also be very excited to know the answer to this, you guys did it with the jade hawk and the hatchetman and i have both, i'd be very excited to get these, ( and i mean very excited)
"Warriors, not war machines, are the backbone of the Hell's Horses. While others worship the BattleMech as the ultimate weapon, the men and women of this Clan see even this awesome piece of technology as the tool it is. We have held to this philosophy since the days of our first Khan, who knew that the value of the common soldier far outstripped the brute force of the BattleMech. It is one reason our Clan possesses fewer mechs than most, and has led many to underestimate our fierceness and courage. Our survival against all challengers when others have fallen proves the folly of such arrogance, and testifies to the wisdom of our founders."

No, just sculpt it so that the stem connecting it to the base comes out in an arc with enough room for another mech to be placed underneath it.
Do you realize how high that would be?  Not to mention that this is a Highlander, and jumping mechs of much lighter weights aren't even sculpted nearly that high.

They will eventually , but  with the thunderbolt just going up on the website in a few months you will have a wait awhile for the riflemen.

I realize the inherent problems with the idea, but it would be awesome.

that is why i suggested it be the finish of a DFA, with plenty of smoke obscuring the poor bastard underneath the highlanders feet, but still readly apparant as a stinger or locust or something else rediculously small

Have it landing on a Red Shift.

Or heck, since it's a Highlander, have it turning a Phoenix Hawk into a tombstone.
