Forza Deici di Galatea, 3035
« on: 15 December 2018, 09:54:11 »
Forza Deici are La Famiglia Fallone's troubleshooters on Galatea.  When things go wrong, a call to Il Lupo can bring them back to "acceptable" if not quite "right".  "Unit" is perhaps too strong a term for the disparate collection of personalities that make up Forza Deici, but the major pieces are: Il Deici (Veteran "Jump Infantry Squad"), Le Vedova Nere (Veteran "Foot Infantry Squad"), Galatea Towing and Assistance (GTA, Regular Battlemech Recovery Vehicle and two Veteran Tech Teams), and MechaGuerriero Moro.

Il Lupo (Winston Wolf, Elite "civilian") is a long time operator on planet and beyond, with connections at all levels, and the skills to leverage them to maximum effect.  The rest of his crew are sent on the jobs that require more than a few of the right words said to the right people.  He has high ranks in Connections, Protocol, Streetwise, Negotiation, and Reputation, as well as the Speed Demon SPA.

Il Deici
Il Deici are essentially straight thugs.  They're all veteran jump troopers who've been part of La Famiglia since they left miltary service.  Each also has a secondary specialty.

Valentina Virciglio (Veteran Anti-Mech Jump Infantry) leads Il Deici.  She has anti-mech training, and was a senior sergeant when she left the FWLM, though Forza Deici itself doesn't use ranks.  Like all of Il Deici, Val is ruthless, and extremely good at her job.

Code: [Select]
Il Deici (Veteran "Jump Infantry")
Valentina Virciglio - "Squad Leader" (Foot Cavalry and Urban Guerilla SPAs)
Lorenzo Russo - Lock man (Security Systems/Mechanical)
Paolo Esposito - Support Weapons
Vito Bianchi - Point man (Prestidigitation/Quickdraw)
Gianna Marino - Back up leader (Leadership)
Luca Romano - Sniper
Antonio Alfonsi - Demolitions
Roberto Colombo - Exoskeleton operator
Angelo Ricci - Driver
Stella Greco - Driver

Le Vedova Nere
The Vedova Nere were extracted from the Devil's Rock prison by Il Deici, who had been attached to a mercenary unit working a separate job.  Prior to their incarceration, they worked for a construction company that was caught defrauding the government.  One of the company's junior VPs was flipped by the prosecution, and assassinated leaving the court house after testifying.  All of the Vedova Nere have long experience in La Famiglia, and have the skills expected of veteran criminals in addition to their Technical College training.  Like the rest of Forza Deici, they don't use ranks.

Sofia Bruno (Veteran Infantry) was one of the ten (eleven) freed from Devil's Rock by Il Deici.  She's another military veteran, but the only one among the Vedova Nere.  That experience is why she leads the others.  After mustering out of the FWLM, she went to Technical College to learn how to pilot Industrial Mechs, and picked up exoskeleton piloting in the process.

Code: [Select]
Le Vedova Nere (Veteran "Foot Infantry")
Sofia Bruno - Has actual military training, Exo/IndustrialMech Pilot
Maria Gallo - Driver
Sara Conti - Gloria's cell mate at Devil's Rock (Exoskeleton operator)
Laura Mancini - Electrician (Security Systems/Electronic)
Aurora Costa - Driver
Rosa Giordano - Carpenter (Second story woman)
Anna Rizzo - Demolitions
Maria Lombardi - Surveyor (Sniper)
Giovanna Moretti - Welder (killed cell mate when freed)
Giulia Milani - Concrete (murdered convicts in neighboring cell when freed)

Galatea Towing and Assitance (GTA)
Raquel Molinari (Veteran "Civilian") runs this front for La Famiglia Fallone as a legitimate towing and salvage company that does repair work on the side.  The addition of Gloria Conti to the staff has helped to further obscure how funds flow in and out of the firm.  Moro's Wolverine is stored on site in a maintenance cubicle surrounded by crushed cars.

Gloria Conti (Regular "Civilian") is the cousin of one of the Vedova Nere, and was her cell mate in Devil's Rock.  She was serving her first sentence in prison, having been convicted of conspiracy as part of the investigation that put all of the Vedova Nere behind bars.  She'd have walked if that junior VP hadn't fingered her for a lighter sentence.  Gloria is a computer specialist, and holds a degree in accounting.  Her cousin insisted on bringing her out of Devil's Rock, and Moro arranged for the mercenary unit to bring her along.  It only made sense for her to leave with him as well.  Il Lupo placed her with Raquel in GTA.

GTA
Martha II (Regular Battlemech Recovery Vehicle), Crew of 4
2 Veteran Tech Teams (one Battlemech, one Vehicle), 14 total personnel

MechaGuerriero Moro
Stefano Moro (Veteran MechWarrior/Anti-Mech Infantry) is a veteran of Anton's revolt, 20 years ago.  He carried a rifle then, and it took him over a decade to make good on the rebel Duke's promise of 'mechs for loyalty.  Getting the Wolverine in question out of the Free Worlds League involved more compromises than he likes to remember.  Enrolling in the Blackjack School of Combat, he learned to pilot the 'mech, and was involved in several mercernary units over the years since, but has never strayed far from La Famiglia.  After calling La Familigia's attention to the raid that led to the return of the Vedova Nere to the fold, he was asked by Mama Fallone to work more closely with Il Lupo.  Recognizing the opportunity as an offer he couldn't refuse, Moro left his latest mercenary unit and is now at Il Lupo's disposal.  His Marik Wolverine has been modified to carry a Blazer Cannon, and is stored at Galatea Towing and Assistance (above).  While Forza Deici doesn't use ranks, his Blackjack credentials rate him as a mercenary Lieutenant.

And last but not least:
Marco Pisano (Veteran Space Ship Crew) was a bridge officer on the mercenary dropship that brought Vedova Nere back to Galatea.  He knew Family business when he saw it, and wisely turned a blind eye.  That didn't sit well with the dropship Captain though, and he found himself unemployed in short order.  But La Famiglia takes care of its own, and he quickly found a new job working aboard another vessel in the system.

Very late edit: I just HAD to add their sound track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMklAUapazI

Thanks!  Credit where it's due: Elmoth's first shot at a play by post here is what inspired me to write these people up.

I'd be more inclined to a variant with increased armor, actually.  It's been a few centuries since any were produced, and La Famiglia would likely want to hang on to it.
