Too bad they could not get the Alacorn, Manticor, and other licences from NETC.

Wait till the tooling company gets there, then start with copying it, while making sure their future Snowdens can also do this.

I hope they can get their money's worth for that carrier.
They have more companies, they need to buy up.

Go for Nicholas Spacecraft, that gives you the Bastion & Princess.
The company has all it's manufactoring capacity, destroyed, nor do we know what else they had the licences for.
But Boeing Interstellar could thus return a copy of all the needed data for the Bastion and Majesty Metals and Manufacturing should be able to do the same for the Princess.
I do hope they can get Fortress & Seeker blueprints, though.
Just think, using the princess as a basis, they could fuse their blueprints into a people & cargo, mover.
Not ideal, but.....

They really should look at getting Mammoths & Behemoths, give them a Seeker upgrade.
That way they can still transport goods, but now are also people movers.
I think John Davion might actually like that idea, especially if applied to a jump circuit from the Hegemony to Mackolle, if it can move his troops, towards the battlelines on the way back of evacuating the fleeing masses.

John Davion might want to propose to the Hegemony Worlds, the joint administration deal, thus allowing him to protect them, without problems.
Or just telling him in his face, he and his fellow lords, will start a war, quite soon, that most likely will show the Amaris Coup, to be the warm-up round, meaning massive lose of know-how, manufactoring, skilled people, worlds and so on.
That he might want to do anything in his power, to staff off this war, for as long as possible.
And why the hell did they all step out of the Star League?
The Hegemony started it and is thus the last member state, Kerensky was the highest surviving leader, thus nobody could counter order him.
It also creates problems with him legally absorbing or defending the Hegemony, as a Member state, it's easy to come to the defence, even taking over the daily running, of the big show, he would just rule two nations and that would allow duel rulership, to start with.
He should have let the other hotheads, walk away, then take the throne as the last surviving Star League Council Member.
Idiot hothead.

So yeah, hopefully, they can get the needed money, for another buying up spree.
And if they can't get the rights to the Seeker & Fortress, what about making a Hybrid Craft?
One that combines their capabilities, even if slightly heavier?
If only they could use a Dictator hull design for this, right?
Some illigal construction might be needed.
Better pull the Vietnam US Army trick with spareparts, in order to get more of them.
Who cares that they made those spareparts, themselves, right?

But yeah, I would suggest they start thinking of making their own designs, in the future.
First it keeps those designers bussy with work, when there is nothing to do, at that moment.
Secondly, it lets them break them down, for their best points.
Let them make their own versions, if they can't get any combat droppers.
If only they could get the Merchant licence, as well as that of the Tracker, I bet it's yard had both licences, so it was easier to hide said production.
Hopefully, they can pull something similar.
Hopefully, when the FSW start, they can repair a ex-SLDF, FS Vincent, so they can pull it's jumpcore data.
It would allow them to upgrade their Leviathan jumpship design, a bit, using it to shift the liquid bunkers to a more secure location, while adding L-F batteries.
Get them working, get them designing.
Let them study everything they have and then fuse them into one product, as much as possible.
Something like the Outpost, Polaris & Trutzburg, is what they need, to get away from any licence problems.
Or a Conquistador, using the Titan as a starting basis?
It has a similar line, just 5.400 tons heavier.

Nighthawk Power Armor and it's factory?
Nice, now they really need to invest in Seeker, Lion & Fortress like designs.
Even Vampires are now wanted, together with the Drost IIB variant, the S-7A Bus, TIG-15 Tigress and so on.
https://www.sarna.net/wiki/Small_Craft

Edit:
I get why you say no warships or dropship, in a way, 2ndArc.
But no manufactoring lines is no manufactoring lines, right?
Meaning they would have to construct them from scrap and they don't want a target on their backs, either.
If they, in the hopeful, next round off buying up, they can grap up a certain SDS related producer, that also made the Vincent...
It's not about the production capability, because that's already shot, it's the licence and thus the lower amount of trouble, if they use parts of the Vincent design, to redesign their Leviathans.
I hope they can thus, create their own Tracker like jumpship variant, with eight collars.
Would need one other company, in order for them to pull that one off, the one that made a certain Bugeye part.

Just think of the disbelief, if their warship was just shoot to hell, by a civillian Leviathan class jumpship???
Besides, I was more thinking, them crafting more modern spyships, could be quite funny.

Site 222 is probably the safest storage for the nukes, honestly... :)

Your point is made. Those Caspers could store them in their hangers.

Mackolla (Federated Suns)

"You have got to see this Patty, it about gave me a damned heart attack when we first opened the door." Colin Blaine said as he reached for the door of the shipping container.

When it opened even Commodore Patricia Mitchell took a step back from the humanoid figure. "What the hell, I have never seen anything like it." She asked as she reached out and touched the smooth armor plating.

"Damned if I know. I am afraid to even unload the containers out here to get a good count. All the years in the SLDF Quartermaster Corps and I never even heard of anything like this or seen anything remotely close to this cross my desk. There are bound to be manuals packed in somewhere, but damned if I want to expose this to anyone but us right now. It is unknown tech as far as I am concerned and if the First Prince even gets a whiff that something the Federated Suns had ever seen before is here, well he is going to come calling with a fleet." Colin Blaine replied

"Lock it back down until Sammy is back. He will know what to do. I will make sure guards are posted around the clock. Now, are you sure that Mule contained Alamo's?" Commodore Patricia Mitchell asked

"The Chief was pretty sure of it. I told them to lock the Dropship back down and get it somewhere out of the way. At least now that Monolith is free to do other tasks versus sitting here with three Mules attached." Colin Blaine replied

"Well if they are Alamo's, that is a massive force multiplier for our Aerospace Fighters. If we break them out and can locate the arming codes for them. Put a few of those into a Warship and it is going to be hurting some. But they need to be stored somewhere very secure. A Mule can carry quite a few of them." Commodore Patricia Mitchell said

"You really going on that deep space mission?" Colin Blaine asked

"Damned straight I am. It's what I always wanted to do, explore the unknown in deep space. The SLDF didn't let me, but I got the chance to do it now and I am going to take it. Just waiting on Sammy to get back before I even think about heading out." Commodore Patricia Mitchell replied with a smile.

Cephei (Unclaimed)

It took almost three days to tear open a corner of the door large enough for a man to get thru. A combination of cutting torches, jackhammers, pneumatic jacks and just plain old sledge hammers. One of the engineers was the first to slip inside followed by Captain Harvey Barclay and then a few more engineers. The first one shined his flashlight at the floor surface and said "Plain old rock that has been grooved for traction." He played the light around the walls and ceiling as he spoke "Actually looks natural, probably is."

"Well, let's go exploring." Captain Harvey Barclay said as he started down the large tunnel.

"Sir, we have no clue what we are even going to find down here." Sergeant Oscar Bolivar said

"I have my sidearm, all of you have yours. We will be careful." Captain Barclay replied as he continued walking.

"Lord save us from officers." Sergeant Bolivar said quietly as he gestured the others forward.

They walked for 30 minutes and travelled at least two miles before they reached a massive cavern. Their flashlights could not reach the ceiling or either wall. The slowly made their way deeper on a downward slope until they reached a large structure. The walls did not look like stone but metal. Captain Barclay tapped his flashlight on the wall and then reach out to touch it. "Its metal, possibly even Ferro Carbide armor. This thing is massive. Sergeant we need more light down here, let's get those floodlights down here and setup so we can figure this out."

19 November 2786
Cephei (Unclaimed)

It had taken all the previous day to work the floodlights into place and then rig up a portable power supply. Sergeant Bolivar was nervous about bringing down one of the portable generators since it was gas powered. But they were finally ready to go. "Hit it Sergeant and let's get a good look at what we found."

Sergeant Bolivar hit the power switch and six powerful floodlights turned on bathing an area of two hundred meters in bright light. They knew about the structure they had found first, but fifty meters opposite the first structure was another structure just like it. They could even make out other structures deeper into the cavern and more behind the first two structures. Each was at least fifty meters wide by fifty meters tall by one hundred meters long. Captain Barclay had brought one of his own engineers down who used a special test rig on the wall of the first structure. "Ferro Carbide Armor confirmed. What the hell would you store inside a huge block of Ferro Carbide?"

"The bigger question is, how many of these massive armored buildings are there. The main door on this one was set back a solid foot from the outer edge. The armor plating we use on a Mckenna is what, four inches thick." Captain Barclay said

"In some areas. Incredibly strong stuff. The only thing better is Lamellor Ferro-Carbide Armor and it is a total bitch to work with. Stupidly expensive too."

"Well, we will figure out how to get inside once we finish exploring this damned site." Captain Barclay replied

20 November 2786

The entire cavern was suddenly illuminated by massive overhead lights when an engineer found a small unlocked control room that still had power to it's computer systems. The systems came out of a deep sleep and began rebooting. Displays slowly came back to life, blurry until someone wiped the dust off them. One display said "Naval Missile Storage Depot #3". Captain Barclay was the fourth person to arrive at the small control room and found the other three blocking his view of whatever display they were staring at so he pushed them aside to see.

 Inventory

 Barracuda - 5,450
 White Shark - 3,000
 Killer Whale - 2,400
 Alamo - 4,250
 Santa Ana - 800
 Peacemaker - 100

"Holy shit, the smoking lamp is definitely out." Captain Barclay said as he took in what he was looking at before shifting his eyes to another display. "Well, seems some systems failed." He pointed to a screen that showed 85% humidity levels in each of the listed bunkers, as he thought of them now, he saw that there were one hundred bunkers listed as he scrolled down the list.

"Humidity kills electronics, good bet those missiles are dead but still very dangerous. I am sure it would take a Flag Officer to even access this sort of site. Which we do not have." Captain Barclay said

13 December 2786
New Avalon (Federated Suns)

Lieutenant General Samuel Mitchell was no fan of space travel which could last months, but the way he felt right now he hated a command circuit even worse. Even the good night's sleep and hot shower did not seem to clear his head very much. He was currently on his third cup of New Avalon Gold, the strongest coffee on New Avalon according to the description on the menu of the hotel restaurant. Seeing the same AFFS Colonel that had met him at the space port enter he downed the rest of the coffee and stood to meet him halfway.

"General Mitchell, I hope you slept well."

"It was a deep sleep, but I still like I got run over by a tank." Lieutenant General Mitchell replied

"Command circuits do not give the body time to recover, they can be a curse and a blessing when needed. If you are ready, the First Prince is waiting."

"Then let's not keep him waiting any longer than we have to. This meeting is liable to be unpleasant enough as it is." Lieutenant General Mitchell said

"You have caused quite a stir among the brass, but they are too hands on and do not allow enough freedom of action to those in a place to make the best decision. They are afraid that if word of your actions spreads more commanders might act and start a war."

"Pirates cannot start a war we cannot win. I just figured taking the fight to them was better than sitting back and letting them pick the when and where to strike. If they learn that my sector is actively hunting them, maybe they will go mess with someone else. Not that I am wishing another Federated Suns world get raided mind you. I just think there should be no safe place for pirates, it should be open season on them wherever they are found." Lieutenant General Mitchell said

"But consider this, what if it is a false flag operation by another House?"

"Are you asking if that would affect my thinking? My answer is it makes no difference in my thinking at all. Raid my sector and I will hunt you down and deliver my response in force. The Tortuga Dominions have been a pirate haven since the Reunification War, started if I remember correctly by a former AFFS unit. Why the Federated Suns has not stomped them into the ground yet is beyond me. I even fault the SLDF for not wiping them out. There are slavers operating out there, innocent people being held against their will, doing lord knows what to survive." Lieutenant General Mitchell said as they got into the ground car.

"Maybe the First Prince can answer your last question, that is beyond my pay grade sir." The rest of the ride was in silence.

First Prince John Davion was actually waiting for them and even moved to open the door to the ground car. "General Mitchell, it has been a long time since we last met. Welcome to New Avalon."

"Highness. Thank you. It is a beautiful world." Lieutenant General Mitchell replied with a bow.

"Come inside, there is much we have to discuss." First Prince Davion said with a sweep of his arm towards the doors of the palace.

The walk was filled with just some idle chat until they entered a small conference room, and the door was closed behind them. "Please have a seat General Mitchell. Thirsty?"

"No Highness but thank you." Lieutenant General Mitchell replied

Once First Prince John Davion was seated did the conversation start to turn. "First let me say good work on capturing those filthy pirates. But independent action like that could start a war. Not to mention leaving your sector undefended and open to an attack while your away. This is not acceptable. Your mission is to safeguard those systems no to go playing the heroic knight in shining armor. What if while part of your command is off chasing pirates attack Mackolla? Your father is building quite the little empire out there and I applaud his efforts for they will make the Federated Suns that much stronger someday. What if pirates were to make off with all that your father is accumulating? Or even just destroy it all? Do you see where I am heading?"

"Highness, I doubt there is a pirate force out there that could make it past SLS Second Chance or my Aerospace defenses. Much less defeat my ground forces before the forces deployed returned or an AFFS unit responds to a distress call. Though the AFFS naval patrols have decreased so much along the border that to sit and wait for the pirates to attack at their leisure is just inviting a disaster. In addition, I deployed the 11th Hussar Regiment with Aerospace support to conduct the sweep. Their addition allowed me the extra strength to actually perform that sort of sweep to begin with. Which brings me to a larger issue, the AFFS seems to think of us as a simple planetary militia force. Which is even then supported by the AFFS in some fashion. We have not gotten a single replacement soldier, not a single bullet or replacement part. That is all coming from our pockets. If this is the way it has to be, then maybe we need to renegotiate and we just go Mercenary. At least then during a garrison contract the AFFS would be paying our expenses." Lieutenant General Mitchell countered

"You did not want to join the AFFS as regulars. You were quite explicit in wanting to remain in the Mackolla area and that is exactly what I gave you." First Prince Davion said

"Yet the AFFS restricts my ability to train replacement troops saying all replacements will come from AFFS training centers, yet none arrive. In two years not a single replacement. I think your senior officers are just pissed because we have not had to call for their help and yet can still conduct offensive operations and safeguard those systems we garrison. This is a new era, there is no longer a SLDF to patrol your borders or conduct the anti-piracy operations. In my time out there, I have learned that before our arrival, the four systems we garrison averaged a raid every three months. Yet in our time there we have defeated one raid and took down another band during our recent activity. I would call that a failure of the AFFS." Lieutenant General Mitchell said

"I think you're missing the point General Mitchell. You cannot take independent action like that. I cannot have officers that just go running off whenever they want to. That just will not be tolerated." First Prince Davion said

"Then I need the forces to be able to protect my charges and that requires personnel and equipment. I cannot even purchase replacement equipment on the open market due to the AFFS buying entire production runs. Defense is harder than offense." Lieutenant General Mitchell replied

"I will concede the point and allow you to recruit replacements for your forces. I know your father has managed to recruit quite a large security force for his corporations. Don't look shocked, your smart enough to know that my intel services might be dull, but they do find a nugget every now and then. I can only assume that some of that security force will find its way into your command. I will even make sure you can purchase some replacement equipment. But your garrison sector will have to expand. I need you to take on garrison duties on Bartrock, Valois and Giverny." First Prince Davion said

"I will need to be able to recruit on all my garrison worlds to fill out that force structure. I also want permission to open my own training camps. They will be trained to SLDF standards, that is how my command will always train. I also need to have the authority to take command of any Planetary Guard if needed." Lieutenant General Mitchell replied

"That ability is reserved for rank of Marshal or higher. We have never had a non-regular as a Marshal." First Prince Davion said

"I will train the Planetary Guard units in our training facilities. In two years, you will have the best trained Planetary Guard in my sector of the border." Lieutenant General Mitchell replied

First Prince John Davion was silent for several minutes as he thought things over in his mind. Allowing them to recruit would put a drain on their financial resources. Getting them in line to purchase equipment would be a massive drain on their financial resources. His father's business adventures would take billions to build them into functional businesses before the first product was even built for a dollar profit. The increased size of their sector would place a strain on their transportation assets also straining financial resources. But would it be enough strain to speed up my plans.

"I will promote you to General, I cannot make a non-regular a Marshal. You cannot pursue anti-piracy operations without High Command authorization. Is that clear?" First Prince Davion said

"Yes Highness. But if I may. Allow me to conduct one last sweep, to knock the pirates back hard enough that I get the two to three years I need to get everything into place." Lieutenant General Mitchell replied

"Your target being?" First Prince Davion asked

"Tortuga Dominions. Let my forces sweep that cesspool clean of pirates and slavers. Free the people there from their bonds. I can hit them hard enough that they will be no threat for years to come. It is something that the Federated Suns should have done years ago and the SLDF for that matter. Instead, everyone just let them fester and raid at will. It is time to lance that festering boil once and for all." Lieutenant General Mitchell replied

"That could take years. Time we might not have." First Prince Davion said

"If I am on the offensive, the pirates cannot be attacking our worlds. When I am done, we might have decades of safety and quiet along the Periphery border." Lieutenant General Mitchell replied

"General Mitchell, have you been keeping up with the news?" First Prince Davion asked

"If you're speaking about how the Houses are starting to tear the guts out of the Terran Hegemony, then yes Highness I have been keeping up. I have also kept up with how the Houses are starting to fight each other. If that is your concern, then having a safe border could free up four to five regular commands currently guarding the Periphery border." Lieutenant General Mitchell replied

"That is why naval patrols are down so much along that border because they are needed elsewhere." First Prince Davion said

"I might be able to help with that too. During our anti-piracy operations, we stumbled upon a ship of yours. My sister and her people are currently working to get it back to Mackolla. Of course, there will be a salvage fee for the return of the ship, it is taking quite a bit of work to get her jump capable again. I think 50% of her value would be a fair price for her return." Lieutenant General Mitchell said

"The Federated Suns has not lost a ship in years. Which ship do you refer to?" First Prince Davion asked

"FSS Chesterton, New Syrtis Carrier. She is banged up and currently not jump capable, but that is being worked on as we speak. I was toying with adding her to my fleet, but I cannot crew her." Lieutenant General Mitchell said

"The Chesterton, she was captured by the Taurian Concordant almost two centuries ago. It is one of the worst losses in our history. You found her? How?" First Prince Davion asked

"Jumping into uninhabited systems. Why she was there, we have no clue, but we found her. My father has Lockheed Galactic arriving real soon. I a told rigging a framework is not too difficult, I am sure they would love the work in making repairs and we have an excellent engineer that could probably come up with some nice upgrades for her. It could be their first project." Lieutenant General Mitchell said

"I think you are over inflating that salvage fee General by quite a lot. Ten percent is a fair price." First Prince Davion said

"For a normal salvage operation maybe, but this is needing extensive repairs to bring her to a repair yard. Consuming a large quantity of time and parts. Forty-five percent." Lieutenant General Mitchell replied

"Twenty percent General and you are pushing your limits." First Prince Davion said

"Forty percent and we toss in an upgrade. But we will need some serious access to repair parts and material. Or we settle for the twenty percent, get her to Mackolla and the AFFS can haul her somewhere she can be repaired by you, taking up a valuable slip. Just adds six months or more before her real repairs even start. At least at Mackolla, we can start the work right away. Or for the twenty percent I can send you the coordinates and the AFFS can send one of your yardships with an escort to recover her. Depending on where they have to travel from, it could be one to two years." Lieutenant General Mitchell replied

"General Mitchell, are you sure your father is the business minded of the family. I need to consult with a few people, I will send for you tomorrow." First Prince John Davion said ending the meeting.

Thats a nice update!  So General Mitchell negotiating with the First Prince is awesome!
A few Billion FedSun D-Bill would be nice to get from the FedSuns government!
The First Prince is still not viewing General Mitchell and his folks as possible citizens and assets he should support.

Nice updates and thanks for posting.

And the Mitchells hit another inconvenient snag when they were hoping for a better break. Those missles are an incredible haul even in their current inert state. Here is hoping that Captain Barclay finds some more of that sweet, sweet tooling and a way to land a dropship inside of the complex. That ferro carbide will be the bane of an engineer's existence trying to remove but every bit removed is a small fortune to help Gerald buy them better stuff to remove it all with. Those Nighthawks will have the special ops guys signing on just about for freeto use them.

Rambling over, great ride and hope it continues

So they have enough ammo, for quite a while, if they can fix them.
Lets hope it's just failty sensors.

Still, that does not really require a Caspar guard, the SLDF even let far more dangerous bioweapons, be unprotected.
Thus, what else is there?
There must be something top level, that made them put a Caspar Guard to that site.
I can see the ammo being recovered from the Taurians.
I can only guess a SLDF black ops, was a bit too good for it's own liking.
So what else is there?
What for off the books project?
And why would they leave their Trackers, like that?
Can the moons be checked?
Was there not that SLDF project that used dozens upon dozens of thousends, fusion reactors, layed out in a sphere, to track FTL jumps?
It would make Shady Palms, also more logical, if it could keep track of that, as well.
Something of the picture, is missing.
....
Full on Prometheus Core, no deletions, by change?
That would be worth sooo much, every nation would send their entire army, just to secure it or prevent another nation from owning it.
Yea, I remember New Dallas, when there is one, there could be more and having back-ups of the mains, is always handy.
It's just weird, you know.
Here to hoping, the basis for future Clan Tech Development, is stored there, as well.
The stuff that would be ROYAL to the Royal, itself.
Perhaps Stealth LAM's?
Maybe a Royal Leopard dropship, with six mech bays, two ASF bays and a troop bay?
One that has full stealth capabilities and used SDS automation...
It's like they just parked everything at a Dome project planet, for no reason.
Something is going on, neither the ships or ammo, require Caspar protection.
Something more then a couple of stored Toro, Spector or Exterminator factories.
That plus SDS fabrication machinery (& data), would make far more sence.
The site protection is too high, for a location outside of the Hegemony, using two M5A/B Caspars.
Might I suggest they test those Trackers, their spy systems, a bit?

Now as for the Snowdens, I suggest their first action is redesigning the things to have a propper collar setup.
That way you could pair a Scout with a Snowden or even dock two Snowdens together.
They could even use this for transfering the finished product materials, to a cargodropship with automated cargo loading systems, like the Cargoking/Cargomaster/Argo.
If only they had a couple of Mammoths, they could thus modify in that way.
Still wonder where the missing machinery is, though.

Say, will they turn site 222, into their future shipyard?
Or should I say, Blackyard?
Remember, the M9 & Athena hull structures, lets you make something fun, just needs a proper warcore to get the most out of it.

So buying up spree two can now start?
Three or five firms from Earth, minimum, couple of defunct companies, one producer of mining machines.
Wonder how far they can thus get.
Add in two transport companies (NETC is back to it's roots, with all it's factories destroyed)
Lets see how far they can get and what they can thus, still snatch up.
I'm hoping they can the entire wish list and then some, but that will most likely, be a pipedream.
At the minimum, I'm hoping they can upgrade the Trackers, their spy ability, to bugeye spec's.

Too bad, non of the RWR sites, are anywhere close to were the 295th ended up at, right?
Just the shock for this John Davion, then, by their sudden swelling, if that happend.

New Avalon (Federated Suns)

He was not summoned until the next day and even then, it was almost noon before he was led into the palace and seated in the conference room. He quickly noticed that unlike yesterday where there had been only two sets of small notepads and glasses there were now six places set. I am about to get tag teamed, this might not go so well, he thought to himself. He doodled on his pad for twenty minutes before the door leading to First Prince John Davions private office opened and four senior officers in AFFS uniforms entered followed by the First Prince. Each moved to chairs, and everyone sat down after the First Prince was seated.

"General Mitchell, sorry it took so long to call you back, but I needed to consult with these officers first. This is Admiral Lenard Mathers, commands Naval Procurement, next to him is Field Marshal Ingrid Bleutcher Department of the Quartermaster, Field Marshal Daniel Oliver Department of Military Education and Marshal Edgar Salazar. They have some questions for you that I could not answer, nor did I think to even ask you." First Prince John Davion said nodding to Admiral Mathers.

"General Mitchell, let me clear the air first with the First Princes blessing. I am not very happy to have any command having their own warship like you do. But, you have done good work with it so far so bravo. Now the First Prince informed me that you have located the FSS Chesterton. What is the ships current status, amount of damage, overall condition?" Admiral Mathers asked

General Mitchell cleared his throat before answering "Admiral, forgive me for not using your name, but except for the First Prince, you are all new to me and that takes time. I know that the Chesterton is not currently jump capable, but we have been working on her for over almost two months, she might be back at Mackolla right now for all I know. I am told she has armor damage, but she is repairable. How much damage, that I do not know. Not my area of expertise. I know that in her current state it will cost much less to repair her than to replace her as a new build."

"You're asking for almost four billion for her salvage fee. I think that is a little high, don't you?" Admiral Mathers asked

"Not at all sir. If I was just going to come here and say "look what we found, that is 1 billion, but it is up to you to take it from here" then yes, it would be high. Instead, we are already in the process of recovering her and bringing her home. I have had four Jumpships and several hundred personnel tied up in the recovery effort not to mention Aerospace support. If I had my limited staff on Mackolla crunch the numbers, we have probably tallied upwards of half a billion in expenses already. I agreed to take the forty percent AND complete the repairs and possible upgrades to the Chesterton. It will provide work for Lockheed Galactic due to arrive very soon until they are fully setup on their own. But the AFFS is going to have to assist us in purchasing the needed material for any upgrades, I am just going to provide the labor and slip for the work to be completed in." General Mitchell said

Admiral Mathers looked at the First Prince and said "Highness, it is my judgement that we delay a final price until the Chesterton is at Mackolla and we can inspect her ourselves to ascertain her true value."

"So noted Admiral Mathers. General Mitchell is that agreeable to you?" First Prince John Davion asked

"It is your Highness." General Mitchell replied

"Field Marshal Bleutcher, if you will." First Prince Davion said

"General Mitchell. The First Prince has informed me that you are in need of equipment and spare parts. Currently you're not a part of the nominal structure of the AFFS but he has asked me to assist you in procuring what you need. The First Prince also informed me that you will be responsible for the cost of the equipment and spare parts, but you will be getting the AFFS discount price on these items. I have also been informed that Mackolla will soon host quite an industrial base, do you know exactly what you will not be able to provide for from local sources?" Field Marshal Bleutcher asked

"At this time, I know that only Newhart Industries has a functional Aerospace Factory. Lockheed Galactic has a maintenance slip that can handle up to One-Million-ton ships but no manufacturing ability. Other than that, I really do not know, my father is in charge of that stuff. As for my command, I am in need of Battlemechs, Tanks, Support Vehicles, small arms, ammunition, replacement armor, spare parts of every type. I am an armor officer by trade, so Battlemechs are not my expertise, but I do listen to my Battlemech commanders, and the number one complaint is too many different models. But I also have to keep in mind financial costs. They have all given me a wish list many times, but until I know what I will have to spend I have to wait on the Battlemechs.

It is like that down the page. I just got permission to openly recruit for my command or train my own, so I do not even know what my final force structure will even look like. If I had my way, it would be a full Armor Division on every garrison planet with a Battlemech Brigade acting as a Rapid Response Force for the sector. I know most of the more developed Federated Suns worlds have that sort of Planetary Guard, the Armored Division anyway, but I also know that they are usually much lighter tanks than those I use. Honestly, I am caught flatfooted by all of this, I am not prepared for this sort of Q&A. It could take two more years before I get the first recruit out of training and into a line command. This could all change suddenly if I can recruit a large number of former SLDF, but I am not going to hold my breath on that one, I am former SLDF and I know most are tired of war, those that still seek the high of combat have already joined one of the Houses or a Mercenary command." General Mitchell said

"Your being honest, so that is a plus. Highness, Quartermaster Command will assist in purchasing spare parts and ammunition needs for General Mitchell, until such time as he can provide a more detailed list of equipment needs." Field Marshal Bleutcher said

"So noted. Field Marshal Oliver, the floor is yours." First Prince Davion said

"General Mitchell, normally only personnel trained by the AFFS or AFFS approved schools are allowed into any unit, even Planetary Guards. The First Prince has informed me of your intent to train your recruits to SLDF standards, I wonder how you expect to do that?" Field Marshal Daniel Oliver asked

"There are quite a few former SLDF Drill Instructors in my command along with former SLDF advanced training personnel. At the same time, ALL of my people are veterans of the Amaris War, so I could easily pluck any two hundred or more of my troops to train new recruits in ways WE know work in combat. Every new recruit will have to complete a six-month basic training and then another year or more of advanced training. Before they are even assigned to an operational unit. It is my intent that we will continue the tradition of the SLDF in making sure they are the best trained soldiers in the universe. I asked when we first arrived to start our own training school but was denied, that has placed us almost two years behind schedule. Now I have the permission but will be four years behind schedule when the first recruit is ready to be assigned to a line unit." General Mitchell replied

"I will need to personally inspect each training school established to ensure they meet AFFS standards. Once I am assured that they do, I will issue official AFFS sanction for your schools. Graduates will then be allowed to enlist directly into the AFFS or remain in the Planetary Guard or your command." Field Marshal Oliver said

"With no real disrespect but I have seen the local training camps on Mackolla, Bamburgh, Arundel and Gamlestolen personally along with observing the locally trained militia and they would not even be classified as half trained SLDF recruits. Yet these are training camps sanctioned by your department. If that is what passes for AFFS standards then there is a much bigger problem that needs to be fixed and quickly. I am sure you will be impressed in how we train our recruits and will have no problem giving us your official blessing." General Mitchell said and mentally winced when he realized that Field Marshal Oliver took it very personally.

Next buying spree of companies, for licences, coming up?
Get the rights for the Model 96 Elephant, pronto.
If everything connected to it's production, including the drone version, can be gotten...
Bonus.
It would help them in their shipyard.
Could be a good product to sell as well.

So add it to the wish list of buying up.
It's one of those, get it out, now, items.

Maybe too late for any more buying from Hegemony businesses, the fighting starts real soon. I think Kurita and Liao are already grabbing world's.

Licence, should still be possible.
But getting companies out, will become quite troublesome, the longer this takes.
And the DC did a probing attack, just now, no united Hegemony Forces to counter it.
Meaning, open season for land grap.

As for those Nighthawks, can they hide them as heavy duty space work suits, for if the work gets hazardous for you health?
Heh, might give some protection from radiation, so it wouldn't be a lie, either.

Say, can he get John Davion to relocate the Nightstar factory, to say Mackolle or so?
Should prevent it from getting any problematic problems.

Say, do the Taurian & Suns, leaders, have a partner, yet?
Because if not, then they can lay down that old problem, while securing their joined border, quite well.

Mitchell really put his foot in his mouth with Oliver... that's going to be HARD to fix.  Aside from that, he made out like a bandit! :D

General Mitchell just pointed out the short comings of AFFS current training doctrine.  If Field Marshall Oliver took it as a personal insult on his command, he has spent too much at New Avalon and maybe the other march capitals to see if the AFFS trianing doctrine is meeting the actual needs of the  AFFS in the coming war.

Mitchell has pointed out, his troops has more combat experience to pass onto new recruits than what is currently passing for AFFS training standards in the worlds he covers.

Hopefully Field Marshall Oliver is professional enough to take step back and listen to what General Mitchell just explained.

As for the FSS Chesterton, the FSN might soon realize 4 Billion is actually a deal and Mitchell might have to up the price!

Too bad the First Prince cant send a small unit that General Mitchell can train to SLDF standard.

Looking forward to the next update!

Huh, I thought social generals were a LYRAN problem, how in hell did a man like Oliver get to his rank and position without being able to handle criticism?

Remember this is the AFFS of the First Succession War...  That one had PROBLEMS.  The well-tuned machine of the 4th took centuries to refine.

Over the training? Maybe, but it probably garnered some quiet respect too.  Hopefully he is wise enough to realize how right Mitchell is and either support it (with lots of angry growling) or let Mitchell do what he needs.

Nice update and thanks for posting.

Poor Mitchell, there is no easy way to tell a high ranking Officer that their ways are subpar and they need to improve. Perhaps he can also offer to train their drill instructors for a fee? Generates money for the command and goodwill with the Suns. And they would be well served to move the Chesterton along before it becomes a massive albatross. This will allow them to review the possibility of updating and producing the Leviathan jumpship.

Enough of my rambling, just hoping the ride continues.

Another good buy up option, General Systems, they made the Exterminator.
Same for Norse Technologies, who designed the Spector.
If they can get both companies...
Then they can do some fun stuff.

Now, Kerensky gave out the Nightstar licence to both the LC & FS.
Do they thus have access to that licence or not?

Can they earn some more money, training FS troops, in the basics?

don't get to greedy now.  We're looking for sustainability (standard tech imo, well mostly) and non-target-y-look-what-they-have status.  Do not want to stand out to much.  The warships and transports are already giant flags.

True, but it's more the jammers and camera's of them, great with a beagle and VRPP helmets, you know.
Might make their ASF's & mechs, that much more deadly.
Besides, it gets that tech out of there.

For one thing, if the full stealth is applied to orbital structures, they might be able to hide some stuff, that they need to construct.
That could thus prevent it's future destruction or Davion theft.
Just think, stealth station.
And if only they could get the blueprints of the M9 Pavice, even without the SDS systems, it would give them a great platform for such a station.

It would be a way to hide things in plain sight, which might be needed in the future.
