If you remember my advice on how to draw a Rifleman IIC, then you allready know how to draw a Galahad.

Of course, this beggars one other question. Why did the Victor Musical Industries designs yield two very, very similar 'Mechs? Were they originally intended to be one and the same? Or is there something else, some other story yet to be told? And why am I so fascinated by this anyway?

Just some random thoughts. On with the Icons!

Neat update.

I was never a big fan of the Galahad, though I did buy the original mini and came to like its looks and combat abilities...but overall I think it was some how largely forgettable buy most players.

Which, by the way, was a serious mistake on the battlefield.

But...

Then I saw the Star League/Original version...and by the Unfinished Book it is a thing of sinister grace and beauty!

Both versions have been effective and entertaining rides.

Nice, I love the Galahad.

You know which icon I'd like to see replaced?  The Falconer.  The current one makes it look like it's 40 tons.

I somewhat preferred the previous retired icon, but that one also had its problems (didn't look very animated).

You know which icons I'd like to see replaced?  Most of the Warship icons... they're pretty bad...  :-\
But nobody plays Space Map MegaMek so I'd understand if this got pushed down the priority list.

The Viper (nee Black Python) is an odd one. It's actually a pretty powerful 'Mech; fast, well armoured and equipped with targeting computer-controlled pulse lasers, it's quite beastly and is a menace to any opponent. And yet, it gets very little respect. This could be because it's not an Omnimech and, as such, is considered 'inferior' in spite of its capabilities. Or it could be because it just looks silly.

After drawing the icon, I suspect the latter.

Nice update, Deadborder.  I would say its the later, it was strange looking machine in its original incardination.
It looked like a flightless LAM.

Next one has been delayed a little due to my own obsessiveness. I'm torn on how I want to draw one of the Variant and its weapons layout,  which will affect other variants down the road.

apparance is definitelyy a part of it.  It's also not a vey prominent design, IIRC isn't it more something used by the home clans than the invading clans?

It's primary user (and clan of origin) is the Steel Vipers. It was used by all of the Invading Clans up until the Jihad, however.

Today's icon is unique, in that it comes with two options for one variant. For years, we've grappled with the unseen Behemoth and the issue of art versus stats. It's an issue that also bothered me when I got round to drawing the icon with what to do for it; draw one gun as per the art or two as per the stats. In the end, I decided to split the difference and draw two. I'll leave it up to the Devs to decide which to use, but for those of you who customise their MegaMek, I offer both.

By the way, what the hell is with the Behemoth 4, 5 and 6? They're unseen variants that pre-date the 2 and 3 as per MUL, and their configurations are... eccentric.

I like that version with one dorsal gun more. Plus, it has been depicted as such many times, even on the cover of its Technical Readout.

And at last we reach the end of NBP, and I think it's a fitting one. For what better way to end this project then the sheer staggering madness that is the Kraken? I'm not going to lie. I love this 'Mech because it is just plain nuts, no matter what. I mean, when the version with quad Ultra-10s is the sensible one, there's something either very wrong or very right.

And now I take a breather before beginning on DBNBP II

I prefer the two cannons, the art not lining up with the stats has always bothered me...

That said, can you include whichever doesn't get used in the unused folder?

2 cannon. Art should be realistic or else someone (like me) might think they are picking the wrong mech.

regarding the Stone Rhino I say put both in there. I agree with everybody else that the 2 dorsal guns should be the primary. but I do have a lot of love for the single dorsal gun too.

2 Cannon because it looks better... 1 Cannon is canon but that Cannon gets lost on the canon design. <say that 3 times fast  >:D

Wouldn't that be nice and give it Arrow IV launchers for arms and come in has a super heavy that resembled the Monster from Robotech and Macross :)

Quick update: I'm beginning the groundwork for DBNBP II. The first icons should be out tomorrow or Wednesday (Australia time)

I'll let you try to guess what it will be.
