Last night we had an epic clash of metal in the streets of Harlech city, as several disparate factions closed in on Temptown, each with their own agendas. Wolf's Dragoons Beta Regiment and Home Guard were being pressed by the renegade Smithson's Chinese Bandits mercenary group. The Bandits called for backup from fellow mercs the 51st Dark Panzer Jaegers, but the Dragoons had their own reinforcements on the way in the form of an assault Star from the famed Zeta Battalion. Our player group, Beta Company of Motley's Marauders were just trying to make it across town to the spaceport where they could rendezvous with their DropShip and hopefully boost offworld or at least escape the carnage. Meanwhile, an enterprising mercenary commander named Kelly came up with a plan to sneak a force behind the lines and steal the mercenary payroll from the Temptown bank.
Once the smoke cleared, Smithson's Chinese Bandits' few remaining 'Mechs had retreated back toward the spaceport, covered by the 51st, who pulled back in good order despite taking casualties. The Home Guard was shattered. Beta Regiment was down a 'Mech but otherwise okay, and the Zetas had lost 2 'Mechs while the others were damaged, overheated and exhausted. Motley's Marauders was damaged but had managed their assets well and took no casualties. The advance halted while a unit from the Wolf Spiders, along with the Zetas, pushed through to clear the renegade mercs from the spaceport.
The battle of Harlech would last another three days and claim thousands of victims, among them, the Old Wolf himself, Jaime Wolf, who died in his cockpit while valiantly destroying the Waco Rangers, who led the contingent of renegade mercenaries. It would take weeks to sort out exactly what happened, and bury the dead. Some time later it would be discovered that at some point during the fighting, several pallets of newly circulated C-bills mysteriously disappeared from a bank in Temptown...
