(Answered) Piloting Skill Roll COUNT due to movement
« on: 23 December 2018, 10:22:50 »
Battlemech Manual (2017 PDF): p. 139: ’Mech's Actions:

"Jumped with damaged gyro or leg/foot/hip actuators ... per Preexisting Damage..."

Specific case: If a mech with a Gyro hit and a Hip hit jumps, does it need one piloting check at +5 or two at +5 ?

Generally: For this entry and "Ran with damaged hip or gyro" does the "or" mean 'Each of these conditions induce separate piloting checks.' or 'Any of these conditions induce a single piloting check.'

Thanks!

Everything that can trigger a Piloting Skill Roll does so, and all modifiers apply to each of those rolls (see Piloting Skill Rolls, p. 53, under "Multiple Rolls").  The example on p. 55 shows this sort of thing occurring.

So, following your example mech, that's two PSRs, each at +5.

Snap! The exact language I was looking for was also on page 14!

"Critical Damage: If a ’Mech uses Running MP, each of the following forces a Piloting Skill Roll (see p. 53) after its movement in order to avoid falling: critical hit to the gyro, critical hit to a hip."
