Whilst the Potemkin class is unmatched in its transport capacity, these ships are rarely used to their full extent by the Clans of Kerensky.  This is because there is very rarely a need to carry 25 DropShips full of ground forces anywhere within the Homeworlds.  Not even during the Widowmaker Absorption of the Annihilation of the Not Named did a Potemkin carry a full compliment of DropShips with hostile intent.  The sheer expense of maintaining these ships and the requirements for specalized docks makes them harder to maintain and of those Clans that do have them, they tend to use them as Ersatz Battleships, only Clan Diamond Shark uses the Potemkin in anything like its original role.

Still the need to move a large number of troops was a requirement and JumpShips, whilst rarely directly attacked could be lost to a boarding action, and the Clans still preferred to move troops around with WarShip support as a 'just in case' measure.  As the Crusader/Warden divide grew, the Crusader Clans began dreaming of returning to the Inner Sphere, and it was feared that the transport capacity to do so simply didn't exist, and mostly, this was true.  Trials of Possession for WarShips could have been declared but these in the past had tended to escalate to be costly, painful victories and defeats making such Trials rare to say the least.  Rifling through their naval Caches yielded some positive results but it was not enough as most of the ships left in the Naval Caches were in poor condition following the Pentagon Civil War.

A design requirement was put forwards for a ship that could carry 10 DropShips and embarked troops on the long journey to the Inner Sphere should the Great Debate be won by the Crusaders, in the mean time a ship could replace reliance on the number of JumpShips a Clan would need to maintain to carry the equivalent number of troops and personnel (As Monolith JumpShips were still rare, even within the Kerensky Cluster).

Design Peramiters

Tentative name - Bagration Class (keeping with the Russian themed names for SLDF transports with Volga and Potemkin as examples)
Displacement - Maximum of 770,000 tons
Speed - 3/5 required.
LF battery is required.
DropShip Capacity - 10 docking ports
Aerospace Capacity - 2 Stars of Fighters + space for small craft.
Cargo Capacity - At least 100,000 tons, more is desirable.
Fuel Capacity - Extensive fuel capacity required (Secondary role of acting as a replenishment vessel forseen)
Protection - Equivalent to the cruiser scale ship that she is.  The Volga class is a good starting point.
Armament - Enough to engage and drive off or destroy hostile Destroyer scale ships.  Anti-fighter weapons and anti-missile defences are a must.

She only carries 4 dropships and has huge heat issues, plus there's not many of them left and they are too spread amongst the various Clans to be of use.

I've tried to design this one to be a decent combat ship, but also to give it the ability to deliver the troops to the front in good shape to fight. The investment in grav decks is far larger than any other comparable ship, due to the extended periods that the ship will be at zero gravity during the long charging intervals on the way to the Inner Sphere. The weapon mix is energy-heavy, to reduce logistical needs, and for the same reason capital missiles have been entirely omitted. It's designed to be primarily a broadside combat ship, capable of dishing out substantial damage at long range. Defensive armament is on a reasonably generous scale, with AMS mounts sufficient to knock down a Barracuda backed up by large supplies of ammunition, and PPCs and LPLs covering all angles against enemy fighters. Two dozen small naval lasers provide dual-purpose weaponry, suitable for either fighting light WarShips, particularly fore and aft, or for thickening up the anti-fighter defenses if needed.

The cargo capacity of the ship is in line with what was requested by the planning committee, with one notable exception. Instead of relying on the internal fuel storage for both the ship's own engines and resupplying other units, a dedicated fuel storage bay of 10,000 tons was added - the additional weight required for a separate tank was deemed worthwhile to ease resupply of other ships.

I didn't have a particular length in mind, but from glancing through designs with similar weights, 800 metres would be pretty typical. Given this is a broadside-preferring ship, and it's so festooned with grav decks, it's probably a bit longer for its weight than most. Let's say 850 metres.

I've changed the design as you said. HNPPCs are now LNPPCs, the double Gauss has been added to the bow, and the double NL-35s have been upgraded to quads. (You said triples, but the extra mass freed up by the PPC downgrade was enough for quads). The endurance has also been increased - the crew all get first-class quarters now(which was one I wanted in the original design but couldn't squeeze in), and the auxiliary fuel tank is 50% bigger, up to 15,000 tons total. Defensive weapons have been changed from 6 ERPPC + 6 LPL + 8 AMS per facing to 4 ERLL + 3 Gauss + 3 UAC/20 + 4 AMS per facing. That's a bit more raw firepower, but it won't hit quite as hard in practice, and the biggest guns(the UAC's) have fairly short ranges. Because of the reduced heat loads all around, the heat profile of the ship is substantially improved as well - it can now fire ~3/4 of its weapons each turn, instead of ~1/2.

(I'm not sure if the unity of the defensive armaments bugs you or not - I tend to like it, because it seems easier to play, easier to grasp the TRO mentally, and because it's a good way to keep myself from min-maxing. But if you want me to get a bit weirder, I can. I was kicking around half a dozen other possible weapon types before I settled on those, so I can mix it up easily enough)

Perfect :) The only fluff change i'll make to her is giving her a single grav-deck but its gonna be LONG.  This will give her an internal layout like the Potemkin class
