Vincent Destroyer Mk. 43
« on: 26 November 2023, 08:38:30 »
The Vincent Corvette Mk. 42 and earlier had nearly a quarter of its mass dedicated to cargo space.  Theoretically, you could do a lot with that cargo space, like store loaded dropships in there or a lot of fuel and other consumables for very, very long patrols.  I decided to drop the cargo space to about 15% of the ship's total mass and put more into weapons and point defense.  More doors were added for the small craft on the ship, as well as more quarters, escape pods, and an additional grav deck for more gunners and a star of Elemental marines.  I feel these changes make the ship into a proper destroyer.  The ship has beefed-up armor and SI and has an extremely robust heat sink grid.

From the fluff, I feel like this would be a good candidate for the first omni-warship, but maybe that'll happen another time!

Thanks!  It's not meant to be completely optimized, just a relatively simple and sensical upgrade to the design, especially being oversinked - it was really easy to toggle double heat sinks in MegaMekLab and not change the quantity

I'm usually not a fan of naval lasers, even if they have an AAA mode.  I prefer large pulse lasers instead and naval PPCs for my capital energy weapons.

NL/45s are for the ships that can't quite fit NPPCs... :)
