MAD-4M Marauder - the MAD-4X Exits Prototype Stage
« on: 26 March 2024, 04:39:00 »
All this discussion on the MAD-4X Marauder got me wondering what one would look like if it overcame its teething pains and exited prototype stage.  I suspected it'd be a beast, and I think I'm right.

I agree, the closing with the enemy would be the biggest problem but that can be alleviated with Smoke SRMs. I would be murder as a tight terrain combatant however I'd hate to run up against it in a city or canyon particularly if it had both smoke and infernos (so i couldn't escape).

I’ve toyed with the-4X before, my favorite was one with an XL going 5/8.

What a difference a year makes, right?  All I did in MegaMekLab was increase the year from 3039 to 3040, and standard endo and double heat sinks were available.  That let me switch from the prototype versions to the regular versions, and I figured I'd iron out some of the other prototype-style quirks at the same time.

Yeah, a production version of the MAD-4X would have been as subtle as a crowbar to the cranium, and a 'Mech I'd happily take against the early-invasion Clan 'Mechs.
