How do you contract brain slugs?

What is the natural habitat of the brain slug? I mean outside of a brain? Is it like leaches and you go swimming on the nice secluded periphery planet and bam you've got a brain slug? Do you have to be captured by people already infected and they put one in you? What do you do if a member of your party contracts brain slugs? Do you kill them? Can you be cured of brain slugs?

The best way to contract brain slugs is to put an add in the personals section of the Modern Mercenary or similar, in code. Meet them at a public location, like a spaceport, and slip them the money discretely. Don't give them your real name or address and don't try and rip them off.
