Decided to try out one of the less typical Jade Falcon schemes, the Vau/Peregrine galaxy:

Apparently the JF clan started producing this mech during the dark age era after the Steel Vipers were destroyed. I will probably try out the delta galaxy colors on a different mech before commiting to anything.

The mechs are great.  I recently told a friend.  Don't worry about picking a faction based on color themes.  Every faction has a unit with a color/camo you will like.

Zeus and Stalker mechs for the Lyran Guards:

I'm way too ADD to stick to painting one faction, one of the reasons I could never finish a 2k point warhammer 40k army, painting the same scheme over and over again made me miserable.

More great work.  The Lyran generals are very happy with the paint job.  8)

And join the club.  I can't stay to one scheme or faction either, regardless of my Davion loyalties.  ;D

Also finished a Linebacker for Jade Falcon Vau / Peregrine galaxy. Mostly inspired by the card art that came in the box with the mech.

Good lord, your stuff is an inspiration for me to get back into painting.  Nice work!

On the other hand, you've painted several units I have, and your stuff is so much better than mine, it stings!  Stop that!  ;D

Great job on your Lyran Guards and Sword of Light, I also enjoyed your 1st Armored Cav.  Also, kudos for the knowledge that they are perpetually deployed on the Capellan March border, and would have their pic of the salvage of the AFFS.  Painting skill and faction knowledge?  Four thumbs up for you!

Thanks!

I decided to try an additional couple schemes, very Tukayyid themed in a way.

Great kit fox.  The Comstar colors remind me the the egg shell blue and white of Federation star ships.  Cool

Thanks!

I hadn't thought of the similarity to Federation starships but I can certainly see it now. I kinda tried to emulate the Tukayyid sourcebook art to some degree with colored panels and checker patterns. But i'm usually too lazy to freehand tiny checkers.

I love all your work, but Jade Falcon Delta and Vau really pop!

Can I bug you for your green and your red recipes? What varnish are you using?

Thanks!

I varnish the mechs with AK Interactive ultra matte varnish, which for airbrush, but I apply it by using a paintbrush. I also put citadel ardcoat on the metallics to make them shiny afterwards.

The green is : Vallejo intermediate green, shade with AP military shader, highlight citadel snarsnik green.

Red: Citadel mephiston red basecoat, shade nuln oil, highlight citadel evil sunz scarlet, minimal highlight of citadel wild rider red

I try to paint the shades into the recesses only, and not all over the mechs.

The grey for Vau galaxy is citadel celestra grey, which has a slight bluish tone. It looks lighter in the photos and I do feel it might be brighter than I originally wanted, oh well.

Thanks!

And another mech done for the Jade Falcon Vau / Peregrine galaxy, this time a Hellbringer!

I have to decide whether to do the Summoner and Night Gyr as Delta or Vau galaxy. Or maybe the more sensible option.. get more of each and do both.
