Hand-painted miniatures by Robert N. Charrette
« on: 02 November 2019, 08:12:13 »
Robert N. Charrette sculpted many of the most iconic BattleMechs for Ral Partha, including all eight of the original Battledroids.  These miniatures were painted by Charrette over 30 years ago with acrylics and a Dullcote finish.  I love the assault-class sized Locust and the paint job on that thing!  Must be Lori Kalmar's ;)

That's a very apologetic looking Battlemaster.

Check out Charrette's hand-painted camouflage scheme.  Amazing!  And I love how he handled the Assassin's cockpit, one of his own sculpts.

The original blue blister Ral Partha Banshee, sculpted by Charrette, included an additional sprue to covert the -3E version presented in TRO: 3025, to the much more heavily armed -3S version featured below.  All miniatures in this lance are early Ral Partha castings sculpted and hand-painted by Charrette.  A close look reveals the left arm PPC assembly from the sprue matches exactly that found on the Warhammer miniature.

I love how the Banshee towers over the others.

I love the banshee's lance color scheme.  Its really stunning.   I must be the only one who amused that Mr. Charrette managed to get the Commando's pose right, with it's head correctly identified which way its lookin?

Love that Pixie's stance. I wish that was the production model pose instead of the "Come at Me Bru!" pose.  The Banshee lance is a work of art.

It is amazing to see how well many of those sculpts have aged. After 30 years some of them are truly top of the line. The P-Hawk Battledroid is very nice and it looks gorgeous when painted.

Could it be... Yorinaga Kurita's Warhammer? Another lance painted by Robert N. Charrette some 30 years ago and available as part of the Charrette Collection.  All four of these 'Mechs are early castings of the original sculptures made by Charrette for Ral Partha.

Impressed by all of the sets,

But, that last Kurita lance is really nice; both mini's and painting.

Here's a fun one... and the fun is only getting started  >:D
As a side note on this, did Ral Partha stop including "antennae wire" in with the blisters at some point?  And any idea when or why that might have occurred?

These are even more delightful in person; just arrived via EBay!  It's a very nicely composed Striker Lance that will serve as the mercenary Charette's Commandos to back up my Alpha Strike Battalions.

The pictures don't really do them full justice, do they?  Speaking of that, here's another vintage paint job by Robert Charrette showing off some of his detail work.

One of Robert Charrette's early paint jobs across a lance of Battledroids (with the exception of the Awesome).  The Alligators ;)

The second of three early OmniMech conversions by Robert Charrette.  They were created years before the official Ral Partha sculpts and based on his experience in the original release of Environmental Simulations Project's BattleTech "pods."

What is likely the first miniature of Natasha Kerensky's Warhammer.  Hand-painted by Robert Charrette 30+ years and using the original "Battledroids" Warhammer sculpt.
