Tournament Rules

  • Three rounds powermatched, and then semis/finals depending on number of participants.  If there are less than 8, there will only be three rounds and finals.
  • Best overall record breaks to finals.  Tiebreakers by head to head, opponent record, and point differential.
  • Force Composition rules:
    • 3000 BV(2)
    • Between two and four 'Mechs
    • All 'Mechs must use Tournament Legal equipment as seen in the Tech Manual.
    • All 'Mechs must mount some kind of explosive equipment.  CASE allowed but discouraged.  MASC qualifies as 'explosive' for the purposes of these rules.
    • Custom 'Mechs encouraged, not required.  If you don't know what you're doing or don't feel like building your own, pre-made forces will be available to choose from.
  • Scoring rules:
    • Points scored is equal to points BV(2) destroyed.  A total victory is always 3000 points, regardless of opponent's actual BV(2)
Only fully destroyed units are counted if time is called. (i.e. Head destroyed, CT destroyed, un-CASEd ammunition explosion, etc.)
    • There will be no ties.  In the event of time expiring, highest score for that game will be given the win, but will not receive full points.  Don't stall.
  • Other tournament rules:
    • Don't be a jerk.
    • Try to keep gameplay running smoothly.  If a rules question comes up, ask the event personnel.  Rulings are final.
    • Maintain perspective.  It's just a game, so don't get hung up on the little stuff.
    • Don't be a jerk.
    • Most importantly, have fun!

Kansas City players, or people who are just passing through the area, come join us at the Geekery just off Shawnee Mission Parkway for BattleTech!  Current days are Tuesdays in the afternoon and evening.  I can't make every single week, but odds are pretty good that somebody will be there.

Bump.  This is still happening, though depending on how many people show up the tournament may be altered somewhat.  I've mentioned it around, but the reaction from a lot of people in these parts is "Hey, I used to play that" and not a lot else.
