In the second edition BattleTech boxed set, there was only one assault 'Mech, the
BattleMaster. What it lacked in appearance compared to the
Warhammer and
Marauder, it made up in sheer staying power. It really was a master of battle. Sadly, like every other 'Mech from that boxed set, it was entangled in the mess of the late '90's and became Unseen, and then Reseen with Project Phoenix, and now, Classic, through the Game of Armored Combat boxed set. If you haven't used one before, or would like to learn more about it in game, please see Kotetsu's
'Mech of the Week article.
As befitting a 'Mech of its vintage, there have been several sculpts of the
BattleMaster throughout the years:
- Unseen:
- The original Battledroid-era sculpt (20-838).
- The Unseen resculpt (20-838), available in both metal and resin.
- The BattleTech, Third Edition boxed set from FASA featured a plastic version of the BattleMaster, based on the metal sculpt.
- Reseen:
- The Reseen sculpt for the BLR-4S (20-210).
- The sculpt for the Calvin variant (part of the Black Widow Company Lance pack, 10-035).
- A BattleForce sculpt, based on the Reseen sculpt (20-9108).
- A Museum-scale sculpt (DL-683).
- A plastic sculpt was included in the previous generation of CGL boxed sets.
- Classic:
- The new plastic Classic sculpt featured in CGL's Game of Armored Combat boxed set.
If you have any of these masters of battle painted, please post pictures. We'd love to see them!
As always, thank you for reading, and a special thank you to those of you who will post!
I'm running behind on life right now so I don't have the Q1 2020 schedule put together yet. Take this as an opportunity to request 'Mechs you'd like to see in the
the scheduling and discussion thread!
Our next two fortnights will be:
- Clan (12/16): Invading Clans: Steel Viper Edition (Battle Cobra and Crossbow, with special guest Crossbow)
- Special (12/30): WarShips and JumpShips
