Metal isn't one of my go-to genres (a lot of it feels very derivative), however occasionally I come across a band that catches my ear. Recently just discovered these guys: Alien Weaponry from New Zealand. (Many of their songs are in Maori.)

I don't know how I managed to never have heard their music before, but I recently discovered Sabaton through their album The Last Stand.
Been listening to it on repeat while playing HBS BattleTech...
-
Found out about them last year, when Sweden got added to World of Tanks (console). They had a stupidly powerful premium tank piloted by the lead singer, and you could unlock the rest of the band as premium Swedish tank crews through an op.
Of course, that all happened shortly before I stopped playing the game for good due to a mixture of increasingly irritating game decisions made by the company and increasingly toxic players.
Lily Was Here- Candy Dulfer
-
I don't know how I managed to never have heard their music before, but I recently discovered Sabaton through their album The Last Stand.
Been listening to it on repeat while playing HBS BattleTech...
You have to appreciate a band that has both "The Last Stand" and "The Last Battle" on the same album...
Playing it on Spotify right now.

Thunderstruck- AC/DC
Seems appropriate: yesterday I was running a Thunder Hawk and nailed a Vulture H in the head the first round we exchanged fire.

I've recently stumbled across a group or project called Ayreon, its an interesting mix. Each of its albums is a story, with the songs and music telling each part. They don't have any set singers or the like but it reminds me of Dream Theater, later year Pink Floyd as well as having campy 80's power/hair metal thrown in there as well as orchestral stuff and even folk.
As an example - 'Everybody dies' is VERY 80's hair metal, it sounds like its the theme song for the sequel to Flash Gordon
and in another album - 'Druids turn to stone' is massively different.
I'd recommend folks give them a listen, The Universal Migrator is a damn good album as is The Source.
-
Ayreon is a project and features a variety of vocalists that represent the characters in the storyline that makes up each album. There's a couple of other European music projects that follow the same formula, such as Timo Tolkki's Avalon or Tobias Sammet's Avantasia.
-
ooh I've not heard of those, I only blundered across Ayreon recently.

I was browsing Imgur a few weeks ago and stumbled across this;
https://imgur.com/gallery/gz8H9JP
And I was like "This is..different."
Its a (unsurprisingly) Norwegian group called Heilung, and instead of it being ANGERY metal, their music's all done with instruments that could have been made in the bronze age and with singing, its very very different but gooood! Some of it i'll admit I don't like but some, like
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmWTZ3KfnXE (this one gets a bit less snarly at around the 3.15 mark and the womans singing at the 7.44 mark is hair raising!)
and
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNu6FmaUIB0 (and this gets a bit less growly at 4.59)
Are amaaaaaaazing. I linked 'em to a friend of mine and he said that it felt like this was something that wasn't meant to be seen by mortals, that you'd blundered across some Fey ceremony somehow, or some ancient ritual.
Also their costumes and stage designs are amaze

You musically inclined folks might be able to help me.
In this vid - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aK_MZbBQH_o&t there's a bit of music that plays from 9.18 to 10.05 and i'm trying to find it just because its nice. But as there's no lyrics to it and its instrumental, searching for lyricless instrumental music would be fruitless to say the least. Does anyone here recognise it?

Actually, the term dates back to the 50s, which it first appeared as a typo in a news article about folk music being sung at science fiction conventions. As a genre, it started taking off in the 70s then exploded in the 90s when the costs of amateur recording dropped significantly.

Doing a mix of 80s and 90s songs right now. Started off with Roxette's joyride, then fading like a flower, listen to your heart, and finally the look (RIP to the female singer, found out she died in 2019, and i never heard about it).. Then came Bryan adams, started off with his iconic summer of 69, then came kids wanna rock, then i'd do it for you, it's only love, and his compilation with Sting and Rod - All for love..
Then came meatloaf (ALWAYS has been and always will, to me, be one of the most ICONIC ROCKERS and ballad guys out there) i'd do anything for love, rock and roll hero and finished with rock and roll mercenaries. Then came Richard Marx - right here waiting for you, hazard county, hold on to the night, children of the night, and finished off with now and forever..
To this day, those are some of my all time favorite singers period. Nothing i've heard from those in the mid-late 2000s, 2010s or even now,has come close..
