Hi together,
I want to build a confidence trickster but... I'm totally confused that skills i 'must have' and the appropriate Attributes to it.
Things i want to have is Patient and Fast Learner i would preffer a character from House Steiner.
Thanks in advance for the help. :)
PS: I forgot, standard 5k Starting AP. Age I would prefer not older then 35.
-
I might have time this weekend... what era are you looking at? I'm mostly focused around 3025...
-
Thanks for you taking Time. :)
We are at Solaris7 at the moment, thats why i want MechWarrior Skills Cappable so roundabout 3.
If you know the Series White Collar... the good looking trickster (Neal Caffrey) it is who i want to play. :)
Edit 1: If you don´t know this Series here is the Wiki Link so you may get a concept. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Collar_(TV_series)
Edit 2: I forgot to say the Campaign Date, we playing in 3042.

It sounds like you want Acting, Protocol, Negotiation, and Streetwise as a baseline. Do you have Excel? If not, I can copy and paste from my spreadsheet into text here...
-
I have Excel, using the "AToW Character Creator v7" from the Forum here.

for attributes I would say that you would definitely want int and cha up there with CHA as essentially your "main stat"
the question is do you want to try to stack the traits that will improve the char (but make them more of a 1 trick ) or not, because I would look at attractive and gregarious.
so steiner
primary language German,
secondary languages, English, Italian, scots Gaelic, Swedish
you will want to look at the affiliation info on pg56 ATOW
any of the provinces would work, but they all have slightly different effects.
pg 65, 66 pick an early childhood if using modules
then continue working through. although point buy may be easier, going through the modules builds a more rounded char IMO and helps come up with background hooks.
modules end on pg 81
if you want to be a MechWarrior you want the MechWarrior field skills at some point
you might also look at the character archetypes pg 94-101 ish for inspiration
traits start on 107 more or less
for a social focused character gregarious and attractive would help, but may not totally fit the concept.
-
Hi guardiandaishi,
that are good points. :)
I don´t want more then attractive, together with gregarious i think it is too much.
I created now 4 other characters bit I´m every time totaly unhappy. :/ Don´t know exactly why.
-
Attractive, but not Gregarious... check. I'm fairly certain I can work with that. By tomorrow, if not tonight.
-
just saying you could go either way, the gregarious is basically you are everyones friend, attractive is kind of that but has a more focused aspect.
I have a few errands to do, but I will come back and throw something together mm in a couple hours or so.
I will do a life path walk through.
-
Module-wise, I'm thinking:
White Collar (who then fell on hard times, leading to...)
Street
Solaris Internship
Solaris Insider
and if you're thinking of a slightly older character, Solaris Games too
Being older gets you more XP. And I have to say, I don't think Gregarious would necessarily be over the top. Attractive has pretty narrow applicability, so the potential synergy is also limited. Gregarious really fits your concept, I think.
-
well crud my pc crashed and I lost everything I had done,
Module wise I was going:
Steiner, Donegal Provence
white collar
high school
and then I hadn't totally decided
-
Donegal's a little far from Solaris... I was thinking more Isle of Skye, which also helpfully gives a boost to Streetwise. The Reputation hit is easy enough to buy off.
-
Here's the first draft. There are 400 XP left to buy additional skills or traits (or buy down the negatives). Strangely enough, Solaris seems to attract organized crime like crazy...
-
Really interessting. :) Thank you for the sheet.
Now taking it to the other sheet and then thinking about the free XP. :)
Solaris is a big black hole for organized crime. :) So much possibilities to make Money.

You're quite welcome! If you have any questions, just let me know.

flex XP plus remaining 703
note this does not include any optimization, or the 500 XP of additional optional negative traits
plus I didn't take any stage 4, life path, ageing (char should be 22) or work out final values its just the raw XP from running through the life paths, and fields.
so technically the char is ~80-90% done minus equipment
attached my improvised excel spreadsheet
-
Code tags might make that a little more readable. Is it just me, or is that a 2 CHA?
-
currently it is a 2, note there was 700 -1200 more XP that could be spent so it would be quite easy to bring it up to a 5-7 range.
with that said I also didn't allocate the XP for fast learner.
-
Ah, right... My sheet does the optimization and Fast Learner pieces, though I wouldn't necessarily say "automatically".
-
the suggestion from guardiandaishi is really good. basicly the covert operation set in it is loveable.
in the sheet i use fastlearner is calculated automaticly, thats why i use it. i hate it to calculate all things with hands. even more when a sheet is out and have all the things. but i´m really lazy with something like that in character creation. at the moment i´m scripting a framework for GM Forge (Virtual Tabletop).
-
there are other ways to get to where I ended up, for instance instead of high school, you could sub in prep school or similar.
the thing is the way I was thinking is more or less, random middle class person, got recruited out of high school, for say loki, or heimdal (steiner intelligence agencies) and then stuff happened.
the "family training" kind of reflects, that while the character is MechWarrior trained, the agency did it more with the idea of additional cover opportunities, not with the intent that the agent would ever actually really fight professionally.
I will admit I am not familiar with the show white collar, so I was thinking/channeling templeton Peck (Face man) from the A team show, and also somewhat Michael Weston, from Burn Notice.
-
I can´t Imagine that you don´t know the show. :) Just because of that you are right in the thinking.
I´m now looking forward to play with him. :)
