Here's what my friends and I were wondering. I'm guessing that Clan personnel (at least the Warriors) would eat meat given how many Clans use predatory animals as their symbols, i.e., Clan Wolf. But Clan personnel (at least the Trueborns) are born with usually higher IQs than Freeborns; and meat the leading cause of heart attacks, colon cancer, and other health problems; so it seems I could be mistaken in that Clan personnel eat meat.

Clan civilian castes are often shown subsisting on rations (a Smoke Jaguar staple was a root called a cholach), while the higher quality food was reserved for the Warrior caste. However, as to your specific question, "Betrayal of Ideals - Foundations of Fate" shows ilKhan Nicholas Kerensky tucking into a very rare steak on Strana Mechty, so I'm pretty sure meat's on the menu.

Okay. Thanks Mendrugo

That someone with a higher IQ should know better than to eat meat is a pretty Rules-4-y thing to bring up.
Whether 1000 years of medical advances have made such concerns a thing of the past or not, Clan warriors do not really have much of a 'how will my actions today affect my health 50 years from now' mindset, anyway.

When you are expected to die on the battlefield at age 35 worrying about a little cholesterol seems silly.
Beside I am sure that pharmacology in 1000 years has likely removed that worry.

Additionally, trans fat hasn't always been a thing. Humans have historically eaten meat. Without historically dieing of exploding hearts. Its more of a symptom of a lifestyle.

I wonder if Trial of Grievances between clan dietitians involve hot-dog eating contests.

There is a female nova cat pilot who got in a drinking contest over a planet. Got alcohol poisoning but lived to tell the tale.

All the things you mentioned are more caused by a sedentary lifestyle rather than "eating Meat". The Clans as a whole do not have a sedentary lifestyle.
