Purpose Built Challenge...BAIFV

Design and build a mass-production oriented fighting vehicle specifically made to transport and deploy heavier squads and formations of Battle Armor.

Requirements: must be capable of using terrain, effective at providing a force-multiplying fire support (iow it must pack a significant weapon or set of weapons with long range and/or indirect fire, and have enough ammunition to actually USE those weapons)  must be capable of soaking damage, and must come in at or below the price point of a Rommel/Patton tank.

note: This vehicle must have good endurance under fire, this is an absolute.  It needs to be able to handle lots of return fire without exploding, while supporting the suit units.

Here's my initial stab: the McKennsy is protected by 9 tons of Heavy FerroFibrous armor, and uses CASE to protect both the crew and 8 tons of troops.  It's armed with a Snub-Nose PPC and one LRM-5, all for under 2.1M per copy (without ammo, of course).  It fits in a Light Vehicle Cubicle, and only has three crew, keeping its operating costs down as well.

Here's a 50-ton Super Heavy APC that can carry two four-suit squads of BA or two platoons of gropos. It is armed with an LRM-10 with two tons of ammo an SRM2 and a medium laser 10 tons of ferro-fibrous give excellent armor protection for a vehicle of its mass. Price is about 800,000 kroner less than a standard Patton. I stayed with readily available weapons and eschewed equipment that was not available in 3053/4.

Schildkrote IFV:

Take the canon Schildkrote.  Replace the LB 10-X and LPPC with a single Plasma Rifle with the same three tons of ammo as the LB 10-X.   Those weapons changes free up 8 tons for an infantry bay, enough for one assault/heavy BA squad or two medium/light BA squads under the TacOps rules.

This IFV still retains all the Schildkrote’s zombie defenses:  10 tons of heavy ferro armor, an armored motive system, an anti-missile system, and CASE.

It’s still slow at 3/5 tracked, but if you want a nigh unstoppable IFV, this Schildkrote conversion about as good as you can do with Spheroid tech while still fitting in a light vehicle bay.

I have not run the costs, but the total should come in under a Patton/Rommel.  The Schildkrote has a 150-rated fusion engine vice the Patton/Rommel’s 260-rated fusion engine.

I assumed Spheroid tech given the reference to BA squads, but let us know if you’re also interested in Clantech.

the cost reference should be a suggested guideline here-I'm definitely more concerned with Inner Sphere tech and an Inner Sphere origin. (Clantech is just 'easy mode')

Looking at availability by year, the Snub-Nose PPC is in, but the Heavy Ferro is out for my design.  Here's a corrected version with "regular" Ferro.  This drops the cost to just under 2M a copy...

Take the Regulator. Drop the Gauss rifle and it’s ammo. Add an 8 ton battle armor bay, and the 1 one ton turret carries a(n ER) medium laser, and a SRM-4 and a LRM-5, each with a ton of ammo (or two LRM-5’s, still with two tons of ammo), and two machine guns with a half ton of ammo. The ammo is in a CASE-lined bay, and the whole vehicle is covered by 6.5 tons of ferro armor (use the extra half ton over its parent design to buffer the sides and rear as much as possible).
