July 23 is the date, noon is the time: the final episode of Solaris Melee Challenge! (At least, for now)

Come romp, come stomp, and if you haven't been, I'll ensure you get something useful and fun!

August 20th is the date after that, and I'll take votes from those assembled on the 23rd as to what to do in August.

Paul

See you guys in September! I hope.

Alright, so I'm taking a day trip to WV on the 23rd, but for the 20th, I'm all for setting up terrain early that day.

Erm, for us to game with *on* Wednesday? (Possible)

I meant August 20, but in reality, let me know if you wanted to game during the week and I could swing an early departure from work to drive up.  Battletech takes priority ;)

lol!

Well, as of yesterday, me and Cubby are plotting to have a game on Thursday 7/21. Intent is mostly to go over tactics, formation, etc. But others are welcome to join; just realize the teaching experience degrades the more people there are. (Still, 2-3 shouldn't be any problem at all)
It'll be company on company (ya rly) and I'll bring regular mapsheet; using the nicer terrain is probably a waste of the energy involved. Let's save it for the bigger games.

Start time: tentatively 6pm.
Minis: I'm bringing what I have from the box, and maybe a few others.

The game this Thursday came from my asking Paul if he could work with me on some of the basics of BattleTech, specifically movement. The monthly games are a blast, but with so many players involved they're not always great for skill development. I wanted to take a moment to really work through what makes a good move or a bad move, and try to level up as a player.

Of course, as he said, all are welcome! Just wanted to lay out the basis for the game.

(I'll bring the minis I have from the roster Paul worked up, basically stuff from the various boxes I have.)

Have an awesome game Cubby.  May or may not be there next weekend.  I have to see what my credit card looks like after spending all the money I did not this past week at the con and prior to that, at Lowes replacing two doors.

Two items for this weekend.  If our mech gets killed are we going to spawn again through out the day/game as usual?  Any chance we customize a ride, omni or otherwise for this last session provided you approve the design  ;)?

Yes, why wouldn't me? Would you like something new, or is there something about the current mechanism you're concerned with?

Not at all.  Figured I'd ask since it was likely the end of this particular Solaris season.

Yes, unless a compelling argument is made Saturday, I think we should turn to something new for a bit.

I'll be in Massachusetts for the weekend, so I won't get to take part... I do want to point out a couple of things though:

1) this would be an awesome time to pull out that Scud launcher and wipe out everyone at the end of the day in one massive nuclear blast to end the Solaris tournament. Pity.

2) I joined late, but I want to point out that I never used the same Mech two sessions in a row- I kept selling and buying something else every time (Wolfhound, Komodo, Warhammer IIC, Jupiter). I did this because I'm an idiot (but genuinely hoped to use that Jupiter one more time)

3) KILL SAM FOREVER

4) It's been a pleasure everyone, hoping to see you all for future shenanigans.

Well I did give some consideration to utilizing a mech portable HPG, however the might not be cost effective.

I had a blast this weekend.  my dice were rolling well for a change.  Paul was a tad unhappy when I stole a kill from him last round of the game.  I rolled two head crits, and after 6 edge points(3 were mine and 3 were others), finally rolled a cockpit

Public Service Announcement: Paul and I are planning another tutorial session for Wednesday, Aug. 10 at 6 p.m. This time, it's The Proper Care and Feeding of Vehicles and Battle Armor. I'll be taking on a 'Mech force with vehicles and battle armor--should be fun!

Was there any talk about the form the monthly game would take now that Solaris is over? I can't make the August game, unfortunately. But at our session last Thursday, I mentioned to Paul that it'd be great to have some sort of linked campaign.

Rather than have to throw in the towel after 6 hours, evaluate the tactical situation, and declare a "winner," we could take photos of the game state and continue it the following month, OR at least have the outcome of that battle impact the following month's game.

Thoughts?

Nope, we're starting a series of linked scenarios.
Details to follow, but I intend to rip off Brian's latest contribution to canon and do a really tiny interlinked campaign.

First event: August 20th!

It was good to have you, but if you can't make it, you can't make it!

Note: for August 20th, it will not be feasible to make use of your terrain.
However, the session after that, September, I'd love to be able to use it. Will work on getting a date on that ASAP.

the idea didn't occur to me earlier.  it's kind of a tradition in the SCA especially in the southwest to do something around pennsic for those that can't go to pittsburg for two weeks of camping.  commonly called a pennsic pity party.  anyway, if you are available and want to game great and if not that's ok too.  I'm actually free most weekends since I finished my masters program.
