(Answered) Capacity of Docking Collars
« on: 23 June 2013, 17:39:32 »
I think that I may have found a contradiction in the rules, concerning the carrying capacity of Docking Collars.

I have three quotes from SO. The first 2 quotes state that a docking collar can carry 100,000 tons, the last quote suggests that a docking collar can only handle 50,000 tons. Which is correct?

Federated-Boeing skipped the on-site assembly
by keeping the Capitol under the 100,000-ton capacity
of a JumpShip docking collar, but the aerospace community
continues to speculate about the reported similarity of the K-F
boom extension in the Capitol to the Hephaestus.

Docking Hardpoint (Docking Collar): As noted on page 304 of
Tactical Operations, a docking hardpoint (also known as a docking
collar) is required for one unit to dock to another. For JumpShips
and WarShips docking DropShips for hyperspace jumps, the maximum
tonnage per docking collar is 100,000 tons.

Large DropShip (2 Points)
This DropShip is so big that it takes up two docking collars
instead of one, as in the case of the Behemoth.

Quirks are optional rules, not required ones, and the standard construction rules for different unit types do not account for them.  The quoted tonnage figures are accurate in both cases.
The Behemoth doesn't take two collars because of tonnage.  It takes two collars because of its size.
The solution is just ignore Paul.
